This was the Chicago White Sox annual Star Wars Night. Not only was it a fantastic troop, but it was a real treat getting the 'behind the scenes' treatment at US Cellular Field. We kicked off the day prepping inside the conference room where they do all the post game interviews. Perfect place for some photo ops and well and we got in the obligatory group shot.
From there, we were escorted through the tunnels over to field. Any kids in costume were invited to join us for a victory lap around the field, parade style. Kids were lining up along the walls to give us high fives and to get a closer glimpse of the Empire's finest and friends. After exiting back into the tunnels, we had a chance to hang out for a while and take pics with the kids who were in the parade. While most of us prepared to move out to the Bleachers, Vader and two of our TK's (names?) got the once in a lifetime experience heading back onto the field where Jweger77 got to throw out the first pitch.
We spent the bulk of the troop hanging out on the concourse out by the bleachers. It was an absolutely beautiful day and we had a steady flow of people wanting to come by and get their pics taken with the crew. The kids were absolutely loving it and so were the adults (even more so as the game went on and the beer kept pouring). About the fifth inning, we started wrapping up and heading towards the tunnels again. Probably good timing too as the bleacher bums were getting a little... let's just say friendly.
A quick change later and we were back in the bleachers just in time to grab a beer before last call along with a helmet full of nachos, and then we hit the pine and enjoyed seeing the Sox get the win.

Nope. From what I was told the day of the game, orange tips were enough to make it not look like a weapon.Darth Spice wrote:Did we ever get any follow up with ChiSox and the weapons issue?

Want to add this to the charity blog...
I know that all proceeds went to Stand Up To Cancer...
so I won't address that issue ...
but the only bit of information I need was how many hours you guys were there?

I'm ballparking here (pun intended), but I'd say we were in costume by 2pm and out of it by 4:30.

lol...
and
thank you!
I did post to the White Sox Facebook page this morning...
asking how much $$ was realized for Stand Up 2 Cancer for this...
I don't really expect a reply...
but don't hurt to ask...
cuz...
we can claim all funds as indirect donations for this event...
If you can check with your contact about $$ raised by this event...that would be cool..
but..
I honestly don't expect a reply..

ok...
how long were you guys at the Park..
does not look like we will be able to get a $$ total..
but at least I can count the hours trooped...
I know that some probably stayed longer than others....
but just an average would be good.
