Family Reading Night
Greenman Elementary School.
Aurora, IL
The school put on a space/Sci Fi themed event to try and encourage their students and children from the community to get into reading. We were asked to interact with the children and take photos. The school was extremely happy to have us and treated us great with water, pop, and pizza. We were given our own classroom on the 2nd floor away from the activities to change and store our tubs in. Once changed we were led downstairs and out into the main group of fans. Our contact did an excellent job of reigning in the masses of children and parents and had a line form up so the children could get their picture taken with us. The school also had a photographer taking shots of all the children as well as the parents. Once the event was over we went back to our classroom and suited down. It was a nice little troop that went very smoothly. They have told me they will definitely be looking for us in future events for the school.
For an added bonus, our contact had put out a donation jar for us being there, and I was just told that $100.78 was collected. We selected the Red Cross as the charity, so it will be donated in the name of MWG and NSB.
