IL - St. Charles ISLMA ABDO Publishing 10/18/12

It was a dark and stormy night . . . well, it was raining at least, and pretty cool outside; at least we were inside for this one! We arrived at 6PM and met up with our contact from ABDO Publishing, Heather. The show on a Thursday night was pretty light, but we did what we sought out to do, which was to draw attention to the booth and pose for photos with the few librarians and vendors that were there. We spent about 2 hours at the event, and I will be working out the donations with them over the next few days. It was a fun and quick troop!

We are working on making a donation in the name of the 501st. I also wanted to see if any of the 501st members who participated in the event were interested in choosing a school or library to receive a free 4-book Star Wars set from us. If so, I'll need to get a list of members along with the name of the school or library they want the donation to go to, address for the school or library, and a contact name. I'll include a cover letter with each mailing to let the school or library know who made the donation possible.

If each trooper would please send me the name, address, and/or contact name at the school of their choice by 10/25, I'll send that over to ABDO. I've also inquired as to the amount donated to charity for our records.

Hey, you guys had TWICE the space we did,lol. I got the same email as you and I'm wondering if they are going to donate on behalf of the MWG or if it's a legion thing since they've used several other garrisons for promotion. Guess I better get to work on my Mission Report since it was a week before yours.

I'm in contact with the school I gave you...so I will check in a little bit and see. Im sure she'll be in touch once they arrive as she wants to plan a family reading night apperance now she knows i live down the street

Just a heads up, I just received word from the school i designated to get the Star Wars books. She said they came yesterday and they were great quality books and the children are already scrambling for them.

She is also looking forward to having us out for their reading night in the near future
