9V batteries

Post by bobafrettTK523 »

On my last trooping adventure I used standard duracell 9 volt batteries to power my amp for the sound. They last maybe an hour to an hour and a half. Is that normal? Does anyone know of some brand that might last longer? It's cool being able to talk to people but annoying if they go out every hour.

I usually stick the batteries on my tounge when I go trooping. The fun lasts for hours!

I get ultra as well, but they aren't duracell, they say something like sanitary napkin on them or something like that.

TK604
Midwest Garrison
www.tk604.com
Stormtrooper Legion

You will be detained. A single 9volt should last for hours thou, you can get two of them and put them in series so the amp will last longer. :)

""Traveling through hyper-space ain't like dusting crops, boy!"
""Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid."- Han Solo
TK669 website

I tried that, but it was like being on a leash. Evry time I reached the end of the cord, my helmet would jerk to one side! I was considering solar panels.

A gasoline powered generator
(found at many hardware stores)
should be a decent alternative to the
extention cord problem.
It may cost a little more, but is worth it.
I've found that it will run many fans at once,
for a lot longer than a 9v battery.
You may however need to add some padding, to the armor,
to reduce vibration.

I have no idea if this will work, but... here goes...

At American Science and Surplus in West Chicago, they have some Energizer rechargable 9V ni-cads (I think) for $4.95 each.

I bought 4 - I already have a charger. I'm going to try to charge them up, and see how (if) they work. If so, they are supposedly good for 1000 charges. I can use them for voice amp and fans, and never have to buy 9V batts.

My disclaimer - it's a surplus store - I have NO IDEA how well those batts work, or even if they work at all. I figured I'd take a chance on 'em. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Rob
