My DC15 Long build.

Post by DTR12 »

I have decided to have a go at the DC 15 Long rifle. I have looked on line and it seems that they can be rather expensive. So I have decided to build a few from scratch. So here we go!

I started at the front and I will work my way back.

It is a labor of love. As In I would love to have this thing done already. All in all it's not been to bad. I did learn that adding the butt or stock after words would have been better included in the main body of the blaster. The way it was added worked out just fine. It just took more time adding it after. So for anyone planning on doing this build if your building a long rifle include the stock in the main frame work.

More progress before I started the first coat of primer.

I have some small details to put on before the second coat of primer . I have to add the screws in the grip, the detail tabs to the center rails on the middle frame and the detail circles on the main stock body. Other than that I am almost finished. I will add the canister to the o ring last.

Finished! Now the question is? To weather or not to weather? Then a good flat finish clear coat.

Awesome
All right, look, there's only one "Return," okay, and it ain't "of the King," it's "of the Jedi!

Thank you, I am very happy with my results as well. Not bad for a guy with some hand tools and a small band saw. :D

Wonderful work! Do you have a link to the blueprints/shopping list for it? I built my DC-15s, and I'd love to put one of these bad boys together too!

No blue prints. I used online photos my sci-fire shorty and visual dictionary photos for ref. I have not put together a list of items yet. I do however plan on in the future some time posting up a tutorial of some sort. This was a scratch build from start to finish so I will have to recreate my process and get myself organized.

I know there are some blueprints floating around online. I have seen them. However you have to scale them up I think. I chose to create my own take on the blaster, paying strict attention to the details.

Wow! That looks spectacular! If you're still debating weathering, I say do it. I think props always looks best when they seem used.

Blown away. Quite simply, that is absolutely amazing. Well done!! Definitely a weapon to be proud of (and to strike fear into the hearts of rebels everywhere).

Oh, and I vote weather it :)
