TK BEANS in progress

Post by beans »

This has been an exciting week in my long awaited journey to join your ranks! my IC is at the tailor's (hat arrived as well... anyone have belt recommendations?) and my AP armor kit arrived!

Hopefully starting a build thread will keep me highly motivated. More to come! & @Zombie_Bunny - I second your motion for an armor party!!!

My FX meets his new arch rival, AP:

Yes, an armor party is MOST DEFINITELY in the near future. However... where the heck is Mundelein???? That sounds very VERY far. I think that will be the issue for some. We all live all over Illinois. I'm motivated to drive the distance. Especially since the MWG are full of great helpful people.

Keep up the good work Beans! Or should I say "bad" work, since this is a 501st detachment site????

Seriously, where am I???

:) Mundelein is in the NW suburbs, but I am more than willing to drive anywhere in the greater Chicago area on the weekends. I live in an apt so no real workspace to offer up for an armor party other than my garage and living room. I've never been to an armor party so I'm not sure what the hosting requirements are, but I doubt I'd meet them! I'll be snack patrol if anyone else is going to host.

ZB - I am really enjoying your build thread, your painting skills are amazing!

Thanks, I think my armor looks MUCH better in person. The flash drowns out the colors. I've never been to an armor party either. Rob and I live in a condo with a small patio. We do a lot of work in our kitchen (gets VERY dirty). I would assume that an adequate garage with outlets would be fine. Augie mentioned his father's place with is near Bridgeview. I was thinking more along September for this party. That way I'm not trying to squeeze it in before CV.

Beans,
Let me know some dates that would work for you to get together and work on armor. We can try to align an August armor party around your schedule. Waiting for Janine's mandolorian armor party shouldn't become an excuse to hold up your TK progress!

JJ, I know you're the one who spurred the latest talk on the forums about an armor party, and I don't want you thinking that I'm trying to exclude you from your own party. I was actually talking to Bean about getting together for her armor on Facebook last week some time. It's just synchronicity that looks like a highjack. ;)

As a side note, I've never been to an armor party before, either. From what I understand, it's just an opportunity for people to get together and share their experience and lend a hand on any odds and ends that need doing. Oh, and pizza and beer. I think those are required.
...And blackjack!...And hookers!

no hookers at my house - but people are always welcome to come up to our place to work on their armor (as we have 2 clones to work on...)

We have a 3 car garage, a decent deck, lots of tools - and a great basement workspace.. :)

shoot either me or psykojedi7956 a note if you want to set up a time to come work.. ;)

Oh, don't worry bro. It's all gravy. I know there are a lot of people not going to CV.

Its GRAVY. Not "groovy." As in turkey and "gravy." Like biscuits and "gravy." Also, potatoes and "gravy."

Lol. (I better get back to rob's costume before he sees me online... Shhhh...

Nah, I wasn't correcting the "Gravy"; I was adding to it! I use that one myself from time to time. :)

Everything's gravy. 8)

Neil,
Your place might be the best solution. Beans wouldn't have to go far, and I can save my "girlfriend points" for trooping. ;) How does Saturday, August 14th look for you?

Beans,
You asked about belts...
A guy who goes by VaderDave makes some excellent and affordable Imperial belts. I believe that he is about to start a run of these, though he's warned of about a 5-week turn around once he gets the run filled. There are only a couple spots open as of a couple of days ago. You can email him here: vaderdave501st@gmail.com... Maybe if you tell him that you're really enthusiastic and under the gun to get approved by WizardWorld, he might put some kind of rush on yours. Doesn't hurt to ask nicely. :)

Alternatively, you could ask around at the Imperial Officer Corps detachment and the Jolly Roger Squadron detachment sites. I did a quick once-over there and on the Legion Member Only boards, but I didn't see anything beyond VaderDave at the moment.

Failing that, I think we could probably find you a loaner for WW amongst the troops who will be there.

VaderDave is on the jrsforums a lot, usually with a thread on ordering since the TIE's need them. Pop on over there.
