Thought I should pop on over here and introduce myself... I will be home soon and would love to troop with the MWG!

I really wanted to get to help you all out with the MSI stuff but will miss that. Bummer.

I am slated to be on extended leave to Chitown in March and April and would like to know if there are any events planned for that time frame. Can a soon to be retired Navy sailor from Japan troop with you all?

You all run a great board. Good to see so much happining in my home state of Illinois.

COOL!! Another Navy veteran in the MWG! Of course, I didn't stay in long enough to retire, only 6 years (88-94). I was an avionics tech in Fighter Squadron 31, the last squadron to fly the F-14 Tomcat.

A guy I worked with was in Japan the last I heard. He was a Command Masterchief by the name of Tony Torres.

Check the Events forum, first post will be the running list of events in the Garrison. We also have it broken down more locally by state, but everyone is welcome to troop where ever they are able.

I know we already have a couple events scheduled for March in Wisconsin and in Michigan. We try to keep that updated as best as possible. Each index listing will link to the information & planning thread for that event.

Make sure you join the 501st Legion Members usergroup here on the Midwest Garrison forums (see menu at top of page). That will open a few more forums for you to view (local event planning & Legion Members forums)

Absolutely!

Are you then going to be moving back here permanently? If so, you will be more than welcome to transfer to the Midwest Garrison!

& the Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit will be headed to Pennsylvania next and then to Minneapolis this summer.
Local Members of the 501st Legion should be trooping events at both of those locations through out the duration of the exhibit's stay in those cities.

Not to mention I will FINALY have another Royal Guard to troop with! WOOHOO!

Make sure you keep up with events on the forums here.. and let me PERSONALY invite you tothe Bartlett 4th of July Parade! It is our yearly parade and cookout. We make a day long fun time, Trooping , fodd, fun, friends, a carnaval and MORE!

Shucks guys...

Thanks for the wecome. As my dates shift around, Ill keep reading up on whats availible to troop. I will be bringing only one costume, Its to much to travel with more...

I am staying over here, so Ill be in the Japanese garrison. They dont troop as much, and mostly located in Toyko, but I have a blast palnning events for my costumes. Thats why I own so many. Im like my own outpost. I am finishing up Vader and Maul this week. First run in full dress on those two.

I honestly havenet trooped with others. I have always planned my own events. I have a toy drive on the 21st here on base. Would be cool to see others in the same hobby. Now that ill be free of the confines of the navy, Ill be able to travel to Cons and big events. Cant wait.

Looking forward to meeting you all I see on the detachment boards and such. Cool to put a name to a face.

I rolled as Maul and my bud wore my Vader. I might bring Maul on my leave.

Wow, that is interesting & cool Nathan -- I mean costuming for New Year's. Do others do that in Japan? (not just SW costumes?)

I haven't gone "out" for New Years in quite a few years. There are too many drunks out all at once and the weather can be very unpredictable.

Yesterday & last night is was snowing around here & we ended up with several inches.

I will never forget your 'groupies' running into you in the hallway at the hotel! You are seriously famous there in Japan and a fabulous Vader! AWESOME!

You know... I wanted to say hey again.. SO much has happened here...

First off, CJ was amazing. Truly a memory I will have forever. Meeting TKVanB, Darth Barbie Doll, Albin and all the traveling troopers from so many country's blew me away. This was the first event I ever attended with more than just me as a trooper. Before CJ I had been alone here in Sasebo... This inspired me to keep going. The Legion is a great place to be.

Now though... Man! We have gotten busy. Sankyo, Children charity's, TV you name it. Busy busy busy. Truly a great time to be in the JG.

So why am I posting on the MWG? I am in Japan?

Well... I might be coming home. Its still in the works, but with the GI bill sputtering here with Distance learning, I might pack it up and head to Illinois where I have the Illinois Vets Grant + the GI bill... I need to finish school. Life first... trooping second...

This is not a total bad thing though, I miss some things about home. Watching Chip and crew tear into things is making me smile from here. Man its cool to see troops in the very area I am from.

So I have been lurking around, seeing from afar how many events you all truly do. Amazing. I am sure to slide right in and help out when the day comes...

Plus, meeting a few people online helps... its a small world.

If I do relocate I know Ill be among freinds, although I truly do wish to stay here. Japan is an awesome place and I am truly happy here.

Thanks guys for letting me listen in and be a part of the MWG, at least from afar right now.
