Salutations all!
501st member here from Arkansas, (9612) and hopefully soon RL member as well.... (Tusken Raider). Wanted to drop in and say hello and get a feel of how things are done in the WI area- as there is a small chance that we may be moving. It's not set in stone, and if it comes down to it, it may be next year. But who knows? Things change before you know it.... :D

But I am sure most of you here know me from the main Legion Boards.

I live and work here in Little Rock, married with 2 daughters and the wife works at the local college.... Huge fan since the first movie came out in 1977 (has it been THAT long ago??? ) And 501st member almost 2 years.

Looking forward to knowing the garrison and squad here.

Welcome to the MWG! :welcome:

Mooseheart is not too far from our home which we lovingly refer to as 'the zoo'. I worked for IDOT when we re-paved the road to the far east (Rt. 31) and was able to get a quick tour of the place. Naturally, I fell in love with the OK petting zoo, the Dairy Barn, and the hundreds of steer that graze along Randall Road :) If your wife could see the area now, she probably wouldn't recognize it as Randall Road is nothing but shopping, LOL!

Even if you don't move, you'll always have brothers and sisters in the MWG who welcome you up here for an event!
Be kind, don't smoke, be prompt, smile a lot, eat sensibly, avoid cavities, mark your ballot carefully, avoid too much sun, mail overseas packages early, love all creatures above and below, insure your belongings, and try to keep the ball low

I appreciate the kind words... wow what a warm and friendly welcome :D

It's not set in stone, but I just have this feeling that it's time to move on and get out of Arkansas- nothing against the state itself, but time for a change and I am more than ready to go. All my wife has to say is "Let's go," and I would be the first one packed. Maybe it's a desire for a change of scenary.... or whatever it is. But I think it would be great to have the chance to troop with you guys up there. I am sure it would be a blast!

Anytime you are able to arrange a visit to the area, you are more than welcome to participate in local events if you like -- or just stop by & say hello too!

To what part of Wisconsin were you thinking about moving?

That's a good question... somewhere near but not necessarily in a BIG city. At least that's what the wife says. Me, I'm not that particular...LOL
Close enough to do and see things, but in more of a "country" setting. But not too far to do a troop event. :P

I've been looking at Sheboygan, with the thanks to Trent.. but the PD and S.O. aren't hiring now, unless somewhere here knows someone that can help!

One of my wife's co-workers is originally from WI and said our best bet is to buy some land first, and once it's paid off, THEN build our house. But I don't know... that would take a while and I can't wait that long.
So it's still up in the air.

southern wisconsin is nice too - near the beloit area - out on the west side of that town there is a LOT of rural area with a LOT of farmers (if you find the right one, they will sell you some of their land, and if you buy enough, you shouldn't have to rezone) :) (then you are about 1hr out of madison, 1hr out of milwaukee, 2 hrs out of downtown chicago - its pretty central for the area) :)
