My hubby originally used a ballet leotard for the undersuit.

You should have seen the looks on the clerks faces when he came in their dainty lil shop, LOL!
But he bought another one at a scuba shop. It is a liner that goes underneath the wetsuit, I believe. Don't go crazy with money on one...his already has started piling and running where the armor has rubbed against it.
Once you are done, you'll have to start on costumes for your kids

Thank you for the informatiopn!!!!!
I'll have to check out a scuba shop here in my town and see what they have.... or the Ballet shop at Jeannes School of Dance.
My two girls are 16 and 13. My 16 year old was mortified when I told her I was making some Star Wars costumes... I had made some Star Trek costumes and the 16 year old was rolling her eyes at me....."MOM!! Why are you wearing that in PUBLIC! My friends will think your nuts!!!" THis nut got to do some Charity work for William Shatner and I have a pic of me with Bill in the Uniform I made! The 13 year old thought it was great and She wore a Captain Jack costume for Halloween.....
THe Star Wars costumes are a bit more of a challenge to make than the Star Trek ones. I have won a few original costume patterns on Ebay of the Simplicity and McCalls from the 70's and the 80's. Both are in good condition and only one has been cut. I am going to make a Jawa costume and the Princes Leia ones. I do Have a Darth Vader costume from scratch and not a pattern nearly done but I am waiting for some one who volunteered to make me some shoulder armor to send it back to me! Even tho I am disabled, my hands can function enough to do cutting and sewing. Cutting with scissors is a challenge but it can be done! My children and I all have the same disability, and doing hands on stuff is good therapy and slows the atrophying in our hands and upper arms.
BTW, I saw one of the charities you donate to is Childrens Memorial Hospital in Chicago. That is where my 13 year old goes for her treatment for her hand, feet and leg therapies and Epilepsy treatments. That hospital did things that no other ones have done for us and we have made great leaps in her (and my ) diagnosis and treatment .(THe neuropothy we have is hereditary, myself and my 16 year old have it also.) We give donations to the hospital when we can by buying my youngest small gifts and toys int he Gift shop after she's had some treatments or (shudder) a long blood draw....
Thank you all for the information and I can see I am going to get a lot of help on here for this costume!
