Hello from Morton, IL
Hello 501st! I have been snooping around the boards for sometime now. I am a huge star wars fan (probably the biggest at my small college) and collect Star Wars Minis currently but unfortunately it has come to and end thanks to wizards so I will not be expanding my decent size collection any more. Any way I have gotten interested in trooping and being a Cancer survivor my self have been amazed and pleased to find out that you all work for charity, when you can it seems. I was encouraged by Kent Heath to check out the boards and I just finally got accepted. I have been working on a Stormtrooper X costume just to stay busy but have not poured any money into anything yet but I hope to get started soon. Kent suggested starting with an Imperial Crew costume. So that is where I will start.
I must say I'm just really excited as a huge Star Wars nerd to be talking to some of you all. And thanks in advance for all the help in getting started.

Welcome to boards!
If you can try to make it out to some troops. I assure you that you won't regret it! The MWG is a excellent group of people and the few events I have done just leaves me wanting to do all I can. Troops always need handlers, thats for sure!

Many bothans died to bring you this post...the tearing of ligaments and almost the loss of a TK's finger...

Hi Travis.. welcome
not sure if I should be welcomeing people or not..
I still pretty new to the MWG myself and...dont tell anyone..but I am more Rebel than 501st anyways...
I also collect the star wars miniatures..I got a pretty good collection..
dont know how to play
but I like to collect them..
I hear that some Target stores have all their miniatures %50 off,
and they got some older titles too, like Unleashed, and imperial entanglements..

Greetings Trooper,
welcome to the Midwest Garrison, Best DAMNED Garrison in the 501st legion!
Crix is right, he's a rebel, but also about the Target Stores, used to collect mini's myself. but stopped awhile back.
As for Imperial Crew, that's a great 'starter' costume, it's comfortable, easy to walk around AND you can SIT!!! believe me you'll love that advantage.
You can speak to Targ, he's the Detachment Leader for the Jolly Roger's squadron. The best pilots in the galaxy. he can get you started on an IC Costume which can easily convert to a Bike Scout costume, Imperial Gunner, or a Tie-Fighter Pilot.
Otherwise let us know what we can do to assist, the MWG is a very helpful and friendly group of men and women and we are all here to assist.
Welcome aboard trooper!

Travis, welcome!
I lost my mom to cancer in 2005. We just did the Relay for Life cancer walk in Normal, Illinois on June 25th, and 26th. I did my first walk, in June of 2005, just 28 days after my mom passed, and I found a lot of support from my fellow troopers who gave me their shoulder to cry on, and got down to take pictures of the luminara I had purchased to honor my mom, I couldn't get a picture being I was in my Stormtrooper armor.
If you get a chance or are allowed access, check out the events mission reports thread! Welcome aboard!

hey everyone thanks for the warm welcome. I'll be sure to hit you all up if I need help as of further reference I'm at Eureka College most of the year instead of Morton not that it matters since its not even that much farther away from any of you that are close.
bobafrettTK523 sorry to hear about your mother. I have participated in Morton's Relay for Life for six years now ever since I had cancer and I am so glad to be apart of it this year is the first year I haven't been on the board since my second year because I was at school most of the year so I was able to just enjoy the experience. I heard about some of you all out in Bloomington/Normal? from Kent heard it went well, my relay was the same day or else I would have had to stop by to say hi
o331mrine I can't say how much I love that walmart and taco bell in washington during the school year and that candy store on the square is still my favorite place to get candy
