Im back!
Also know as Central Illinois But My name is William AKA CaptainGMAN, GMAN, Gibbs and a few others.
I came to my love of all things SciFi late in my child hood being well over 13 when I stared to drive my mom nuts with star trek reruns and borrowed star wars movies from the library.
I came across the 501st a few years ago but was unable to even think about trying joining as I was quite a bit under 18 still but just a couple weeks after my 19th birthday I was Googleing and found the 501st site again reread ever thing and then I found you guys and I thought I would check your forums out wile trying to plan my costume.

Hey Gibbs! Welcome!
You're poised to become a part of something that's really great and unbelievably fun and cool. Don't be shy about asking for guidance or help around here or on the Detachment forum for whatever uniform you decide to start with.
So, like RDB asked, what costume are you looking at? If you let us know, we can help steer you in the right direction!
Cheers,
'fang

Uh oh, River's been itching for more Prequel costumes in the Garrison...!
I could be wrong, but an EpII clone might qualify you for membership in the Rebel Legion, too. I'm no expert on that, but I do think so.

Last time I checked (which was last week) yes an EpII clone would qualify me for membership with Rebel Legion.Fleetfang wrote:Uh oh, River's been itching for more Prequel costumes in the Garrison...!

You mean like how the Imperial Gunner, the Imperial Crewman, the Imperial Navy Trooper, and the TIE Pilot all have the same costume except for what hat they're wearing?
Oh, and as long as you've got the boots, the gloves, the hat and the belt, you might as well get an Officer's suit made up, too.

So you're considering joining the ranks of the clones eh? well this garrison could use more clones by far! I know of a few of us that are making them but nothing finished as of yet.
Clone is hard to wear, it's many peices and can be uncomfortable at times. hence why I don't usually wear my thigh peices and woudl love to purchase another set to make them more 'comfortable'. Still, it's a great costume and MANY kids love the clones. Only recently have I noticed adults recognizing many of us as well.
Feel free to PM me and ask me any questions. I love being Rex and coudl always use a Cody, Thire, or another Rex at my side.

Just so you know the standards have changed for Clone Wars clones. but they've stayed the same for EPII clones. Mine was made prior to the change in policy so my costume has been 'grandfathered in' much to my dismay.
Still, welcome aboard, you are in the company of one of the best 'original' garrison's in the 501st. I'm looking forward to trooping with you soon trooper!

Greetings and Welcome.
Where exactly are you? I know Central Illinois but that's a huge chunk of state. I live in Peoria along with Mark Berry (Boba Fett) and Dave Cooper (Royal Guard and Vader), James Noland (TIE and Gunner and TX)lives in Bloomington, Chip, Tom, and Ryan (Vaders, troopers, soon to be clone) all live in the Champaign area and we all can help you.
Let me know and I will point you in a direction if I cant help.

No the armor IS different and what REALLY stinks is that for the "Clone Wars" clones you have to be a specific SIZE to wear the armor. Now, this CAN be avoided if you choose a cheaper costume like an IC and get that going first so you'll be a member of the 501st officially.
The reason i state this is so that you can still get in on a more forgiving armor and not worry about acceptance in the 501st. RL would also take you in at that point too.
With the Clones, you'll have to look to see which ones are 'approved' if you're looking to get approved with a clone.
For example, if you were to do Cody, you would need to specify EPIII cody or Clone Wars Cody
each have a different armor and helmet regs.
Now i've heard that it was only 'one' place making the clone wars armor, but now there's another and the other is kinder to different body sizes.
I know this is a pain, but i didn't make the rules. and believe me i'm not trying to deter you from doing a clone. before you could just use EPII/III armor and an EPII bucket, paint it and then go from there with the proper accessories.
Now they made it so darn specific.
still, you can still get EPII armor and do a Captain Rex but you would need the right pauldron (mine wouldn't normally fly) and the right Kama. etc. etc.
there's a lot to digest and I'm sure between myself, Kent, and others we can help you accomplish it.
