Greetings trooper and welcome to the MWG,huntman wrote:Hi my name is jon huntman. I just start looking into getting my own outfit and i was wondering any do's and dont's when getting a oufit. And how durable they are. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
well, that really depends on the type of outfit you are looking for. Are you looking to do a stormtrooper, tie pilot, clone trooper??
picking your costume is the first step, the do's and don'ts are a little different with each one.
But by all means, we are an extremely helpful bunch so feel free to reach out to any of us, we'd be glad to help.

First rule of thumb is do not buy from ebay. Do your research, learn about the pros and cons of the different types of armor and what's best for you and your budget.huntman wrote:Well im looking into a TK stormtrooper or a TD sandtrooper to start off with
If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask us. There's a lot of information available and it can be very intimidating.
As for research join http://whitearmor.net for stormtrooper info and http://mepd.net for sandy info.

Yeah some people go that route because they're very similar others go right into sandys. It really depends on what's right for you and your budget because sandys do take quite a bit more work and money.Null-11 wrote:One of my buds said doing a TK is a lot easier than a sandtrooper. It's easier to start off as a TK and then you can modify later on to do a sandtrooper. But if you want to do sandtrooper first, then go for it.

Welcome to the Midwest Garrison...definitely check out the TK Detachment. They are a great bunch of folks, very helpful. Definitely, scour whitearmor.net because most if not all of your questions have already been answered. Also, you are moe than welcome to join us at any event even without a costume to get a feel for trooping and actually see armor upclose...heck you may even find some folks are willing to let you try it on. If you have any questions just ask. Welcome to the fight.

Welcome!
Brad Wilson (fallenjedi) is down in Ziegler, IL.
It's a long drive, but I'm around Champaign. We'll be doing Relay for Life in Bloomington on the 26th and 27th. You're welcome to come to any of events if you'd like. I know that when Metropolis has it's con, midwest Garrison and the 70th Explorer's have attended the past few years.
