Welcome to the Fight! Great to see another person in the southern portions of IL. I live in Belleville. PM me you number and we can talk sometime. I too have been working a from scratch helmet in the animated style. Would love to talk to you about your sculpt. Here some pics of my Clone Pilot Helmet. I should be getting some Magic Sculp this week and begin finishing this thing. I recommend you make your way over to http://www.clonetroopers.net That is the Legions Detachment on Clone Armor. As a heads up, they are not very tactful with feedback but it is always spot on. So make sure you are wearing your thick skin when you start showing off your work
Anyways, we can definitely talk about scratch built versus buying a kit. Scratch built will cost you more in materials and time, but you always have the satisfaction of saying it's 100% yours. A kit on the other hand can get you trooping faster and teaches you tons about the art of costuming. Again Welcome aboard.
