Allow myself to introduce... myself...

Post by Imperial1971 »

It's actually a re-introduction. My name is Mike Bollow and I was actively putting together an Imperial officer uniform about 2 years ago and due to job loss, I had to give that up. I actually got one from a guy in South America and it was a piece of Bantha fodder so that didn't encourage me much!! I am back to relative normalcy now and am going to try and get a FILM ACCURATE uniform put together. I do historical reenacting so my criteria for what is CORRECT is pretty high. Yes, I smell like campfire and usually have a hang-over.

Anyway... I am excited to be able to get back into this!

All the best -

Mike Bollow

Welcome to the empire my friend . Might i ask just what form of historical re-enacting you do ?
I was involved in Civil War for over a dozen years with the Mudsills . But gave that up due to a bad back and old man syndrome !
But i enjoyed EVERY SINGLE MINUTE of it . Well..........except for freezing my ASS off at nights in a dog tent that is !

Thanks everybody! I really like the Imperial Navy impression. The trickis finding a quality uniform. My reenacting is Ww2 German (go figure) and also Napoleonic British and British Revolutionary war.

Once a fan of the Empire...

I picked the Imperial Naval because so few folks actually do it .
It's basically your everyday imperial black officer's uniform without any rank badges or code cylinders or other do dads. But the hardest piece is the dang helmet . It's not available per se ! So I made mine .
Someday someone WILL offer this helmet . SOMEDAY !

Kathy, Phyllis, and Tonya have all done magnificent Imperial Officer costumes. Not certain about their schedules but they might be able to tailor an Imp. Officer costume for you.

As for helmets for the Imperial Navy-PM me.

Easiest way is to grab a free account on Photobucket.com....Upload your pic there into a folder.....Then you can link it here on any post . It's the easiest way i know of anyway.

Let's see if this works:

I am the guy on the right. This is me and my buddy Matt doing Napoleonic reenacting as the British 95th Rifles. If you are familiar with the BBC Series "SHRAPE'S" starring Sean Bean, you'll know the unit!

P.s..................i also did a few weekends at Old Fort Madison in Iowa back in the day . 1808-1813. Just did the fatigues tho , no dress/field uniform .
Had fun there the few times i volunteered . We got to sleep in the Enlisted man's bunks at night . This was around the time of Black Hawk btw.

Yes! A rare "Hurri" in the flesh! This one is painted in the Desert Air Force scheme and was up at "Thunder Over Michigan" back in 2007. They had another Hurri there (in Battle of Britain colors) and a real Me109. They were chasing each other all over the sky and people's jaws just DROPPED. I never thought I see that for REAL in my life!

Has anybody in the 501st put together "a handbook for Imperial Officers" yet? That would be awesome...

Mike
