Rock County is the county that is between Dane County (where Madison is) and Winnebago County, Illinois (where Rockford is)..
Beloit and Janesville are in Rock County

Rock County is JUST north of the Illinois border (its not a bad place..)
(stick your finger in the middle of the border of the illinois, wisconsin border, and basically, that would be rock county..)

Welcome! I'm in Michigan but was just in Crystal Lake (hour north of Chicago) for the weekend. A friend of mine just moved up there and it was very nice. And Randell road! Holy Cow the shopping! and then right down the road there are still corn fields and cows. It seemed the best of both worlds, nice homes, shopping, cows and only an hour from Chicago.

Welcome locokarma!

Don't worry about asking all the questions, I've asked a zillion of them already and every one has been nice here to answer as best as they can....

I don't live near Crystal Lake I live more in North Central Ill in the middle of corn country. I live in our town of 18,000 but if i go down the street, turn left go 2 blocks and go right in about 30 seconds I'm driving in the country with the corn soybeans and oat fields around me, and plenty of cows! People still ride their horses here in town, as long as they clean up after their 4 legged ride.

Well, I'm going THIS way, not THAT way!

if you want farm-land - i would begin to avoid the n.il area because its all becoming 1 big chicago suburb (crystal lake, etc..) because if the metra goes there, so do the commuters.. (also, if you have kids, it is illegal for teachers to strike in WI unlike IL)..

once you get to the winnebago county IL area, its a lot less chicago suburb, and becomes more communities.. (like dekalb county is the beginning of the fringe when you go out I-88 from chicago) -

crystal lake is not far from the rockford area at all (its not an interstate, but a good state hwy) .. its pretty there - i am pretty sure there are members in the crystal lake area.. :)
