My mom was talking to me the other day and said "you know..... I jsut might try to make a SW costume"
When I asked her which she said Jabba........
I don't think she's kidding
How can I get her to follow through with this? She doesn't want a static prop.... she wants a full-blown walk-around costume for parades and such....
Thanks,
Tim

Ok, I'll leave out the obvious jokes here.
Seriously, Jabba required three people inside to work in RotJ. I can't think of any easy way for one person to pull it off.

No, she knows who he is.... we have an original Kenner version on top of our computer monitor.
That's why I'm so confused with this

Maybe she said it to see what reaction she could get from you?
I hope she would reconsider the costume as that one I wouldn't even touch with a ten foot pole.

Oddly enough, I've been barinstorming and have some ideas on this.
It woudl be a chinese dragon design.... the entire think wopuld sit in a wheeled frame... Hard to describe in words, but I know hte general way of doing it....
Should be fun.... NEG has a Jabba, and the MWG might hvae one if everything goes right

Might I suggest: Jocasta Nu.

Or Atris (EU)

Or a Female Imperial Officer? Or she could become one of the Deadliest Dames in the GALaxy, a BLACK WIDOW of JRS.
The possibilities are endless.

she's told me many times since I posted this that she wants to see this through..........
I'm scared but supporting her 100%
Now... Any advice what I can make the inner frame out of? We need it to be light enough to move on wheels but heavy enough to not blow away... and still collapse enough to fit in a 2001 Ford Taurus....

Well when i was in High school many eons ago we used chicken wire over a frame to make the floats.

that would work.. except this can't be a completely rigid build... Keep in mind that Jabba is a slug....
The NEG built their prop with irrigation tubing as a skeleton:
http://501neg.com/jabba/makingof.php
I've gotten permission to use their design as a base to build off of, so I hope it'll save me some trouble.....
Now... If I can get this to work.... Would the MWG have much call for Jabba at events?

I was thinking of pipe insulation as a skeleton. Make ribbing out of that and connect them with strips of foam rubber. Cover the whole thing in tan vinyl, I guess.

Let me know if you get this ready for Bartlett. Since we've pretty well shelved the other idea or have we? I'll bring the trailer and pick her/it up.

there are still some ideas we're kicking around..... nothing set in stone yet....
the most reasonable idea I've found for a "costume" would be a Chinese Dragon-type build.
sadly, I'm going to be doing a parade opposite bartlett, so even if it was finished, we'd be unavailable.
