Commando Armor making parts

Post by TK465 »

Hey all...Jaster noticed this stuff is starting to pop up on ebay....in any event it's selling now on ebay for 600 plus 75 for shipping...rather spendy for something that he makes a clear statement that it's sold as is....which is usually done when someone can't pull a decent set of armor....anyway if anyone wants in on buying one of these sets to make patterns off of so we can supply our ranks inexpensively let's get a list together so we can go shopping....I would like to get as many people in on this to throw in cash so we can keep the costs down...and I'm not going to go shopping until I have cash in hand so to speak.

I'm interested, but it all depends on how much we gotta spend.

If I can get 15 to 20 people in on it the cost will run around 50 dollars for the armor for the end user.....I'm figureing on cost of materials i.e. ABS plastic and plaster for the moulds, being covered by the sale of the bought set of armor after we make the moulds and then assemble and paint it to make it more attractive to a buyer on the ebay market.....There are also a few things I want to change and or add to the armor since they are missing detailwise on the set I saw on ebay.
Also we still need to work out details on backpacks and helmets but if we can get the ball rolling on the armor we're 1/3rd of the way there well 2/3rds of the way there really since I know I can make the packs without much difficulty.

Just so we're clear here......THIS IS RECASTING AT ITS FINEST" So those of you with weak constitiutions when it comes to out and out recasting you've been forwarned. This is something that we keep inside the Garrison....just so we're clear on this. We're not doing this to turn a buck we're doing this for an inexpensive costume.

If you want, I can handle the funding (ie. collecting from everyone and hosting th funds in my Paypal). I can keep a running tally and so forth, just to keep things on the up and up all while being the public face of the project to all those involved. Any questions can be directed to me, I'm more than willing to help get this thing off of the ground. Steve says he'll do the work, but doesn't want to handle the money. If there is a surplus, all involved will receive an equal refund. If we are really serious about doing this, we have to have money in the account when the auction ends successfully (don't worry, I have a sniper program).

Don't worry bout it SL2280 you will be included but we do need at least 15 to 20 people interested in this to make it work out.

Before getting too hyper about this, it might be worth considering that something might be hitting the pipeline after DragonCon.......

What I have seen over on CT.net is basically the same stuff that is going up on eBay. What the armor manufactureers are doing is trying to figure out a price to sell the armor at by judging demand on eBay. It's such a rare commodity right now, so the price is still very high. If we were to get 1 set, we could make 15-20 sets for the garrison only, then resell the purchased armor and use it to fund the MWG RC project.

At last count, we either have 12 or 13 people interested. Basically, it would would take anywhere from 15-20 people to make this thing work. The only problem is that the auction that we're looking at ends tonight a little before midnight EST. If we were to win, we would have to make sure that everyone would have the funds into the Payapl by no later than Tuesday morning at 6 am EST. Who for sure is a defnite yes?
