I'm working on a custom uniform, need to find a cheap helmet

Post by hopeful recruit »

Before you guys yell, I know that the 501st doesn't accept custom characters, this is just for myself. Now, onto the suit.

I'm working on a Mandalorian jedi. I need a Fett-type helmet, doesn't need to be great. As long as it's in decent shape with a visor, I'll be happy. I asked the guys at TDH, and I'm getting a lot of help on the armor, but nothing for the helmet. It doesn't need the RF, that'd get in the way of the hood on the cloak. I'm going to try to make a saber hilt from a piece of pipe.
I'm thinking of a black w/gold armor, or black w/ red armor.

Any advice on this? I think a custom would be simpler right now, but I'm not giving up on my royal guard.

Once again, this is for my own use, not a 501st entry.

Cheapest Mando helmet ever

Post by BDA TK7503 »

Here you go
Enlarge this picture then Print it out. Then install string (elastic would work best but what ever is lying around will work) from one side to the other. If you need to be able to see you will need to cut out the dark visor area and install some saranwrap. Place over your head and walla instant Mandalorian.

I guess you could google fett helmet for sale or check eBay but i don't think you can beat the price of this one.
All right, look, there's only one "Return," okay, and it ain't "of the King," it's "of the Jedi!

You've got to be kidding me.....I didn't mean that cheap.

Ok, since some people are feeling funny, I'll try to clear up that part.

I'm wanting an actual helmet, doesn't have to be the right color. I'm goign to repaint it, either red or gold trim. It can be a DP or rubies one, as long as it has the visor.

Price-wise, that's what you're going to get, the DP/Rubies -- that's the bottom of the scale.

Go with the Jango, since it doesn't have that telltale dent in the crown. Then paint it whatever you wish.

I just need a $30 fett helmet. it doesn't have to be in C10+ shape, a C6+ would suit my use just fine. I'm going to make it look battle-damaged, maybe part of the visor cracked and missing.

The visor as in the lens?
That's just a cheap-o dark film-a little thicker than saran wrap.
Guys who go on to upgrade regular fett helmets end up changing that with something much thicker. You could put cracks in it pretty easily, I'm sure.

Alright, sounds like a plan.... But I still need to find a cheapo helmet, first.

I was actually planning on breaking a chunk off, kinda like broken glass. The I'd attach the part that covers my mouth, revealing one eye. Sound good?

yeah, but that thin stuff isn't going to look too much like cracked glass-it's too thin, I think.

That's what I'm saying-it's thin cheap-o stuff. You wanna find busted up bits of smoked plexi-glass and ude that instead. And no, I don't know offhand where to find it....couple pairs of broken dollar sunglasses maybe...

I agree on the color, The red looks more sith-like.

TK895, I might be getting a jango for free from Cruzer on TDH, if it's ok, could I direct you to TDH member Jodo? He's hunting one.
