Over the last couple of months I have been learning mold making and casting and find it fascinating...
I had ordered all my supplies from a place called "Smooth On" in Pennsylvania...
of course...that entails waiting and shipping charges...
I guess because of the supplies I have ordered...I got an e-mail announcing a local seminar on mold making and casting....
right here in Countryside...
and
it turns out...
that place sells the Smooth Cast products....
Anyway...
the name of the place is Reynolds Advanced Materials...
their website is here:
http://www.reynoldsam.com/?utm_campaign ... dium=email
and....
they are conducting a seminar in October...
and also one in December
http://www.reynoldsam.com/Reynolds-Adva ... pages.html
If this is something that you would like to learn/do
I urge you to check it out...
at the very least...both Reynolds and Smooth On have awesome on-line videos for you to learn things also..
I am thinking about taking a day off work to go to either one....Oct or Dec
Some of the stuff I have been diddlying around with...
It is a fascinating hobby...
and...
opens up a whole new world of possibilities for both costuming...and probably some other practical applications...

I did this stuff as a Crime Scene Investigator. I can make molds of your fingers and actually roll prints from them!

OK now that is cool.TK265 wrote:I did this stuff as a Crime Scene Investigator. I can make molds of your fingers and actually roll prints from them!
Smooth-On stuff is quality material, but if you aren't making a massive run of pieces from the mold and need to save some dollars, you can create silicone molds using white silicone caulk and acrylic paint combined a certain way.
