WIP Comander Blitz & Z-6 Rotary Cannon

Post by Lord Sitan »

Hello MWG,

Here are my two projects I’ve got going right now,
First is my clone armor, it will be ARC Commander Blitz when all said and done (hopefully with swap out parts for a Grunt and ARF trooper). This project is slow going so I only have the body of the armor right now and will pick up the kits I need as money and time become available.

Here are the pix so far:

Next is my Z-6 Rotary Cannon’ I have made more progress on this one only because, if I screw up parts on this I can just hop over to the hardware store and get more. But I like how it’s coming together, thanks to the troops over at CT.N for the input on parts.

But here is just a brief set of pix as I have lots:

any input would be great!

Thanks,
Thomas

It looks awesome so far! Just be weary of the lip on the crotch and butt pieces. They look like they might leave some marks. Also, the gun, how heavy will it be after your done? Keep in mind you have to carry that thing!

I'm not looking forward to the armor pinch  but I'm sure I'll get it doctored enuf to not hurt to bad.

And the gun is about 6lbs right now, that no guts in it (drill, wire, drill mount, and handles). Depending on what drill I use I'm guessing between 12 and 16 lbs. or should say hopeing. Anyway if it's to heavy it will at least look cool!

Well for the gun, a strap would be the best way to go if you haven't thought of that yet. Here is one of the MWG members that recently moved to another state. Not sure if you can see it, but he has a strap that goes around his shoulder.

That's not a bad idea for parades Or long troops!
But I'm still a ways off from thoughts, ( sad face).

Also, here's today's progress;

My first go at sludgeing;

Still lots of work togo, but doesn't look to bad before sanding.

Hello MWG,

so its been a while, my main thread is on clonetroopers.net. but ive made a lot of head way. ill get this page up to date:
i've got all me extenders on the cod/butt, Ab/kidney , and Chest/Back making it fit me (a heavier troop). ive also got them all sludged, sanded and bondoed the small air bubbles.
ImageImageImageImageImageImage

i don't really like the gap i get from the Velcro
ImageImage

after the bady was glued, sludged, and bondoed i tryed it on for the first time, to my surprise it fit fairly well
ImageImageImageImage
ImageImageImageImage

here is some of the work i did to the chest
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

i have also got one of the legs half done but mostly mocked up. i had to make it a lil bigger but by doing that i think i can go seamless with them now

Bondo is going to crack on you. Might I suggest using the new JB Weld ABS PLASTIC WELD? I found it at Home Depot and let me tell you I wish I would have had this from the beginning of my 501St Clone build. It's putty in a roll and the activator/ hardener is in the middle of the putty. You cut what you need to use. You need it in your hands and fill the seems. It hardens in a couple of hours and then you can sand it. I tried bondo...what a mistake. Then I used the expensive flexible bondo for boats and that worked well but mixing it correctly was a pain and it smelled really bad. But I ordered a new set of thighs because I didn't like the way the first set looked and used the JB WELD ABS WELD and it was God sent! it won't crack on you!
Otherwise your doing a great job and it is a lot of work but will be kick ass when it's done!

I'll have to look into that, however the main fill I uses was sludge (abs melted in acetone) and CA glue. The bondo in the pix is mostly to fill it he small air bubbles and dremel dents. But I have a few places that the abs weld might fix for me.

Yes! I used CA glue on my Clone build and my ATA STORMTROOPER. I tried other glues but this worked the best for me.

so i have hit a dead end for the moment, so i thought i would give a progress report:
ImageImageImageImage
so starting form bottem to top. i got my shoes mostly done, paint, straps, velcro, ect. my lower legs are kinda a problem, i have what some have called tree truncks for caffs so i have to do some modding for them. the upper legs i got seamless but my short legs make me think i might have cut them down a little.
ImageImageImageImage
got my hip boxes and thumel det on my cod/butt. also the vest velcroed to the ab/kiddny
ImageImageImageImage
got the straps glues to the top of the chest/back. also got the sholders bondoed, biseps and for arms glues and seamless. i used a rivet on the forarms to help get my hand in the armor.

ImageImageImageImage
have most of my ARC upgrade stuff glued and bondoed. have to heating and bending to do for the pali.

but over all i think its coming together nicely. trying to get a meet together with a 501st guy afound me so i can have help with a test fitting. parts of my armor feels wrong and need a little help.

It does look pretty BA. I'm a little confused about your tummy piece. It's attached to a shirt?? I do think that is a creative invention, but be weary of wearing too many layers. On days like today.... you'll die. Lol. Also, is the pauldron also plastic? That's pretty cool. I know sandtroopers wear the leather, but it gets a little floppy over the shoulder after some time.

It's really coming along. Thanks for all the pic updates!!
