The Grand Army of the Midwest

Post by Fleetfang »

Since a number of current members of the MWG will soon be beginning work on about a dozen animated clone troopers, I thought it was a good idea for us to collect reference pictures of specific clones from the cartoon series in one place, in case anyone would like to paint their suit up to be a specific character.

Hardcase:

S4 Wolffe:

ARC Fives:

Friendly reminder: The armor changes from seasons 1-3 to 4 and beyond. The differences are subtle in some cases, more dramatic in others. You may not be able to do a S4 character without modding your suit. For specific clone related questions, Brian Anderson is the man to ask!

I found some shots of Echo and Fives from Season 3, when they returned to Kamino. Their armor has more of the 501st blue on it. I think I'm leaning toward one of the two of them, probably Echo. Simple enough to be a generic trooper, but iconic enough that the fans will recognize them.

It's a shame about the newest episodes' armor not being the same as the older stuff. Hardcase is a particularly stand-out guy in the few episodes he's been in. And you've gotta love the Season 4 helmets. Fives is looking really good lately, too. The last Domino can't fall! :)

Brian is working on a S4 helmet for Rex now. I imagine the others and updated armor won't be too far behind. That man is a beast!

I think I will definitely be making a S4 clone. Rob, what are those subtle details? The Grand Army of the Midwest...can I sense a patch? A shirt? Swag?!

Should we possibly make a sub forum for when construction starts so we can put all relevent information in one go to area?

Well, it took a miracle for me to scrape together the money for the armor he's pulling now, so unless there are simple modifications that can be made to the suits in the current run to make them S4+ versions, I don't think I'll be in the market for anything like that. If we could just swap out the helmet, then I'd be there in a second, but since that's off the table, I may be stuck in the early seasons of armor, with the "Episode II"-ish bucket. :(
Put me in the camp with RDB... if anyone gets hold of some kind of modifications list, then please post it here!

I just realized with the lifting of the 3 reference rule, I can do ARF trooper Boomer from Republic Heroes now.

After just speaking with Brian Anderson, unfornately none of the S1-3 pieces are combatible for the new S4 suits.

Who would want to make a 212th, or 501st squad? We have a Cody in the garrison, we need members of the 212th (Alternatively 501st clones) and at events how sharp that look? Just tossing the idea out there because it hasn't been done by one garrison. The Chicago 212th :) (How about a patch 118?) Sorry, I am just very excited at all the future prospects of this "Grand Army" we will have up and running.

Since I'm bi-legional now, I'll tag onto what Norman said. The Rebel Legion actually has official Clone Squads or Fire Teams incorporated into their base structure. We're working on putting one together now for Nar Shaddaa. The cool thing about those is, once you get it up and running, your Squad can develop it's own logo, name, and eventually do official swag.

For those of you who are building clone armor, I'd recommend taking a look at some of the stuff going on over on our sister group's boards:

We're just waiting on the other other Robert's approval and then Cody will be official. Tenime (the marvel cosplayer) is working on a suit for Waxer of the 212th as well. Two down!

I'd love to do a commander wolffe

...but guess i should really concentrate on finishing my TK and getting into the legion/garrison first, huh?

Aside from some minor tweaks, I'm ready to report. My photos are in and approved, they should be on the 501st boards pretty soon. As Cody, i'd have to say i'm preferential to the 212th moniker, but I'll roll with whatever callsign we use.
