Doughboy's TK Build
Evening fellow troopers,
Ok, so about two weeks ago I personally recieved the GIANT brown magical box from the postalwoman, though it wouldn't fit in my front door! I am still a padawan when comes to TK knowledge, but man I am impressed! Just taking out the pieces overwhelmed me for sure. Lots of trimming still to go, and basically the coolest thing, ever. The bucket particularily stands out IMHO.
Thanks Terrell!
Its here, its here, it's here! Opening this while listening to the Imperial march is something I will never forget.
Just like a kid on Christmas. Here it is!
So far I have-
-White Industrial grade Velcro
-Krylon White Primer and gloss white
-Sanding sponges, 320 and 600 grit
-Snaps, need 7 more...
-black elastic type material, in 1.5' and 2' inch width
-TK-4510's awesome decals
-Rubber gloves
-TK Boots
-Neck seal, just waiting for it to arrive...
-Smitty's Lens
I still need-
-blue and gray paint for the frown, ears, and ab buttons
-E6000 glue
-Lexan Scissors (Probably getting these this weekend at Hobby Lobby)
For the blaster I am modifying a Hasbro E-11 (A huge thanks to Robb who recently is hooking me up with one!!!) with a resin kit from Doopydoos. Electronics will be later down the road once everything is put together, a ROM/FX if I have the money. I was thinking putting it together, then painting the suit. I noticed some troopers paint the inside of the bucket black, is that needed for the Expert Infantry designation later down the road?
Despite my urges, I plan on holding back on the helmet till the majority of the suit is snapped and strapped up. TK-4510 provided a huge thread on how to assemble a ATA helmet, so I might give in to the temptation this weekend too...
Man is it a great feeling to know you've finally gathered all the materials, especially on this costume, unlike my RFT, lol. More pics to come, to make sure it's up to Imperial Standards.

Many bothans died to bring you this post...the tearing of ligaments and almost the loss of a TK's finger...

ahhhh.....going for armor too....lol...
looking good so far...
Armor is a journey ...that's for sure..
and where I don't wear mine a whole lot...the fastening system that I ended up using seems to be working out really well..
The one thing I learned in doing mine is that if you ask 10 Troopers the best way to do something..you will likely get 10 answers...
it is all trial and error to a degree..
and wearing it and walking in it...and just moving in it..to work out all the kinks....
lol...and yes...
Rebel Fleet Trooper is one of the easiest costumes you can do...
but I have to admit...out of all of the Rebel costumes I have..it is the most satisfying to actually wear because at least most folks recognize the character...
Endor Trooper
Hoth Trooper
Techs....
eh...
not so much..
but I have to say..
Hoth Trooper was more challenging than TK armor..
and remember...
a whole bunch of us will be here on Sunday if you want to get a good look at things..

Thanks
My RFT is done, just waiting for Donna to send my sewed shirts and vest back...otherwise I am ready to roll for the RL. Lol, yes I wanted (needed) to do armor, and now I will be able to troop for both groups which is awesome in my book.
With the trooper advice, I can tell you that's a big yes, and all troopers can agree on that one answer lol. I'll have it ready to roll by October 30th painted all that jazz!

I have TK armor...it is FX....Rebel Doughboy wrote:Yes Donna in California, and still waiting on it...sent a PM detailing it...So Phyllis you have done a TK? FX or?
I don't wear it too much because I am REALLY too short to be a Stormtrooper and it is rather comical to see me with other taller folks...
I recently made a bunch of 14 year olds who wanted a photo with me in TK kneel down so that I didn't look like a midget...lol...they sure grow them tall these days.....my generation (baby boomers) just don't seem to be as tall...
we are sneaky like that...Sands wrote:No RTF talk here at MWG! Rebel Scum!

Thanks! These comments keep me going!
I just spent the last two hours fine tuning, now I am going to sand all the arm pieces ready to be glued tonight or tomorrow! Tomorrow I will finish gluing the arms, and then test out the thieghs and maybe even glue them tomorrow. I am leaving a little extra space in the thieghs as I will with the calfs. Calfs Hopefully will be Wendesday's project and I can rivet the Ab and Kidney plates together and put in all the snaps on Thursday...yay! Then if luck has it, I can actually strap this sucker up
I am scared to do the calfs...though holding them together against my TKBoots, I am way too excited not too!
