All kidding aside, to see Turo say it looks nice...makes me blush a little bit. Guys like him and Thomas are my inspiration. Make me proud to be part of such a group of great people.

My comments were uncalled for and I regret saying them. It took someone that I thought I had lost to point out my error and I'm sorry Jay...you don't deserve my continuous snide remarks.

EXCUSE THE REPETATIVENESS I'M JUST COVERING ALL THE BASES
Steve
TK465

Well, last night we finished it. The fans, headliner and lenses are now in place. Jay is now attaching the new hoses and lastly I will throw a nice coat of polish on it. As I drove away from Jay's house I looked back and I swear I saw it looking out of the window.....sniff, sniff. I'm all verklempf! As a side note, it does fit nice in the lovely custom helmet bag that Jay has.

DP

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p083.ezboard.com/bmidwestgarriso ... rovadan at: 8/16/05 6:07 am

Great job!!! Its "PIMP MY HELMET!!" IN THE HOUSE!!!
The gold trim just looks great.......a first. Are you going to trim the rest of the suit in gold? That would just add to the look.

Well, we discussed this. I have suggested gold cog patches, belt buckle & stud, maybe even a gold stripe around the controls of the chestbox (instead of white). Maybe a piping stripe down the sleeves or legs of the suit. Just kind of subtle stuff, though. If you get to carried away it would be too "pimpy". Might as well carry around a jeweled cup and a walking stick at that point.

Yeah about that cup and walking stick, I think they match the helmet very good.
Jay
TK130

Cool. How's the fur collar on the flight suit coming along? I know you decided against the cape, but I still think it sets it off.

The cool part is...anyone can do this to their own helmet. All of the supplies used were purchased at local "home improvement warehouse" and "automotive supermarket" type stores. The paint job is backyard rattle-can (but not Krylon Fusion, it's base-clear Duplicolor) and was done right in my garage. With the exception of some dirt-mall purchased decals and a couple resin greeblies (made by artist known as TD866) everything was do-it-myself. If anyone wants theirs to look like this...I can tell you what to do. I have taken pics of every step, and hopefully will put them together for a little how-to. My computer hacking skills are nowhere near as good as my nun-chuk skills, though. So it will be awhile. Right now, I wanna get my hands on a DP Classic Action, or something comparable, and give it the treatment worthy of a finer piece of plastic. I have had great success with the Rubies and cheap DP that I bought at Target on clearance for like, 11 bucks. Time for something else.

DP

If anybody goes to Gen Con this weekend...look for Jay. He will be wearing the helmet for the first time.

We did! Jay and I. Took a lot of pictures (got mobbed by a crowd for photos) with Blizz. Took part in a fan-film. Got chased by security and whatever law enforcement agency that sweet little blonde pig-tailed hottie (trust me, she was hot) with the 9mm worked for.."Ya'll gotta be kidding me! Move along or I'll have ya'll barred from the convention center! Just cause I can't see your faces..." -I guess that should go under the "Things overheard by Jay and Dan at Gen Con"...also known as the...you know what? I'm not gonna stoop that low. Haters can eat it, and I mean that. Oh yeah, and Jay's helmet looked fabulous. I can help anybody who wants to make one like his, if they are interested.

DP

She was hot. The pistol and the uniform only added.

I saw the helmet at Jay's house earlier tonight. He's using it for a waste basket. In the bathroom. It's cool, though. It's still shiny. I feel bad cause he's using the helmet bag for a bath-mat. Oh well.
