Codpiece separation
Ok...I really want to be able to bend over and maybe even sit down while wearing armor, so its time to take the plunge and separate the codpiece. Anyone have any advice, techniques, or words of wisdom for such an undertaking?
"The TV business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where theives and pimps run free and good men die like dogs." I went ahead and did mine this weekend. No problem at all. The belt will cover up the cut so you don't have to worry too much about mistakes.

The hardest part for me was figuring out the best way to secure it to the ab piece once it was cut.

I ended up using snaps and elastic.

Re: Codpiece separation
There is a thread in here somewhere, that at one time even had pictures. It was a great tutorial that eased my fear of doing the cod piece seperation. I'll see if I can find it.
"Open the blast doors, open the blast doors!"

Re: Codpiece separation
Its the attaching it to the ab piece that has me concerned. I want it to be flexible but not flop around or stick out. I'm considering a velcro/elastic combo.
"The TV business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where theives and pimps run free and good men die like dogs." HST

Re: Codpiece separation
Well after I took a dremmel to it to make the cut, I used 4 or 5 strips of 2" wide elastic and hot glued them to the inside of the armor. It has made a world of difference, and so far it has held together very nicely. The most important thing, is it allows you to use the bathroom without having to take your armor off.

It is important that you make the cut under the belt so it will not be seen I made it towards the lower part under the belt so it could move fairly easily.
"Open the blast doors, open the blast doors!"

Codpiece seperation is under the "lower armor" section although I'm not getting any pictures in that part of the tutorial.
"Open the blast doors, open the blast doors!"

There is a thread here somewhere about how I did mine step by step. Not sure where but it's here.

Here are a couple pics:

It is very stable and does not flop around at all.
TK895 GML
Midwest Garrison
The Fighting 501st

Luis, I want to thank you for your heartfelt concern...this is a very tough time for me and just knowing you care makes all the difference in the world. I know one day the pain and self doubt will go away and I'll just cut the sucker.
"The TV business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where theives and pimps run free and good men die like dogs."
