as this pic was neglected in the above post -

anthony is now handpainting the "primer" greys.. :) (and doing a few touch ups..) so we should have a "final" ATM pic later this evening..

you can also (sort of) see the 2 different blues that we used.. we were VERY lucky to find a match for anthony's armor to what mike had used.. so his helmet is a slightly different blue than mine (otherwise known as a VERY hard to find color vs. one that is currently in production)

okay - so the details have been painted - we have to put in the lenses, attach the aerators and the bit thing, and but screen behind the teeth (minor details).. we also need to pick the "weathering" area clean.. (thats simple..)

here we are for now..

I should prob. also tell you guys this - I'm 5'5"ish (depends on the shoes - the dr says that height when i'm barefoot).. and I am in an OSCS short kit.. did not have to trim too much.. and it really did go together nicely.. the buckets are also OSCS.. Until I stand next to others, at least my kit doesn't look like a little short person swimming in a kit thats too big..

what do you think?

Thats great to know because I am 5'7" and I was thinking I would have to trim the heck outta it to fit. A new hope has been given! Looks great as well!
Many bothans died to bring you this post...the tearing of ligaments and almost the loss of a TK's finger...

Well.. i have 2 fans ready to install in my helmet, i just have to mount them.. and 2 fans on order for psykojedi's.. We just have to re-do psykojedi's shins for submission pics.. I guess that is the project for the week.. we got delayed on working on them as we wound up going to 2 harry potter parties this weekend.. and now its show week for me.. but that leaves the days open :)

Great job to the both of you! I'm working on my clone in my basement and was going for the 501St clone also. Did you guys go with the right color blue? If so what brand and color name and number? I want to match your blue so that we all have the same shade. I hope you guts are going to Wizard or Cyphan because it would be cool for a clone invasion! I'm still taking my TK but also my clone.

It's 2 different blues.. (mine is different than anthony's as the color on anthony's clone is REALLY REALLY hard to find).. I will have him post the colors when he gets back in..

The color that is closest to the color used by ILM for the clones is Krylon Ocean Blue (which has been discontinued); I was fortunate to find 2 tiny Short Cuts cans (and Plesha must have found cans before the color was discontinued).
Next closest is Krylon Global Blue; this is what we used on Jen's armor.
Image
Mine is on the left, Jen's is on the right. There is a slight differnce when viewed next to each other.

Try Ace Hardware for the paint; this is the place we had luck finding them (especially the Ocean Blue). Menards also has a huge selection of Krylon paints. Hope this helps. You can check out the armor Friday or Saturday at Wizard.

(Now I probably should get going on my shins so that become official)

10-4 I will go buy the paint today.
I'm 5'8" so I am right on the short side as well but I didn't have to trim my original TK at all for it to fit me well. We will see about the clone armor. I will be spooning the calves so that they are a very snug slim fit.

Spoons are why it's taken a bit for me to make new shins (needed to make new, TALLER shins as the Glover shins are nice, but are a bit short on me; plus, had to clamshell and I wanted to make armor a bit more seamless). FINALLY got them to pop shut easier and can start with painting and getting pics submitted. I'm using the method on the OSCS website for my spoons.
