A new chic in Armor... Mando Armor!

Post by Zombie_Bunny »

Hey, so most of you already know I am making a custom mando. A few have already seen a pic or two if it. I figured I might as well start a thread of my progress.

This is the gun I bought....

This is what it looks like now...

This is the idea of my mando...
Image

This is my helmet. I added the blue after I took this picture...
Image

These are the pieces I have cut out thus far...
Image

This is my boob armor and collar. The color in the pic is 100% accurate...
Image

I still have to paint the other parts that are cut out. Then I have to make the ab piece, the gauntlets, and the cape. The visor is on order (thanks Rob for the hook-up). Then I am ready to go!!!

I'll update as I progress... Rob and I are working on our costumes tomorrow. Yay for bonding time with my honey-poo. :)

Dead sexy girl. Are you going to Wizard World? We could have a femme-mando invasion, all three of us.

(Love the designs - original but recognizable - awesome)

I'll vote JJ (Sorry there "Honey-Poo")

We may have enough members for a new Mando Clan!

Lol, thanks guys!! "Honey-Poo" is trying to bribe me into painting all of his armor when he gets it/makes it.

I think I might go with a different suit. The whole one piece thing makes it hard to use the bathroom. Since the zipper is in the back and rob will also be in costume, i wont be able to undress. I bought a shirt and pants and i'm going to dye them soon. Hopefully it wont look like ass.

I'll vote JJ, too. I'm limited as to what I can do, since I am trying for accuracy to Vizsla. Plus I can't paint.

What did you do for your curved breastplates, out of curiosity? The plate thickness looks great - I always think that mine are too thin.

Well I use to work at Spencers and we used those thigh up body forms. Those body forms are the same thickness as the sintra! I first tried to mold the breast plates out of sintra.... it didn't work.... So I went up to my old work and asked for one. Lol. It was a pain in the ass to cut out. I got several, i mean TONS, of blisters. It was worth it though. There was a lot of texture on the body form. I spent hours and hours trying to smooth it out to match my sintra.

After my mando is complete, I might take a break from it. Lol.

Ok, I still have a long way to go, but this is an IDEA of what it will look like. I still have to mold/paint the ab piece. I have to mold the biceps better. I have knee pieces that need elastic straps. That black velcrow on the suit needs to be moved near the chest plate. The thighs need to be finished. All of the pieces then need to be attached to the jumpsuit. My helmet needs the lens put in and my cape needs to be made. I am thinking of a canvas fabric like my pouches. I forgot to put my guns in my holsters. I had to add elastic fabric to the holsters because my guns are too wide. Lol.

Again, the armor is PURPLE but for some reason all of the cameras make them turn out blueish. Its weird...
