Lol Shortrooper, ol' Sesame Street.. :)

Well I figure I update you all. I am in the last stage, gun is done, and the last pieces are going on tonight. The new Kidney plate, belt, and old thigh boxes are all getting assembled tonight. Thermal det has been drilled and its just a matter of riveting on the clips and adding the plate.

Should be done to coincide with the anniversary of a certain movie...

Pics tomorrow!

To address ol Robby today the completion* of my suit coincided with a amazing movie 30 years ago, today. This is obviously The Empire Strikes Back, the favorite for the majority of Star Wars fans.

With a note, I need to rivet on the knee plate and thigh boxes and paint the little squares to cover the metal on the belt...and paint the little circles on the AB plate. I will also put snaps for belt so it doesn't sag so badly...BUT seeing that will take little to no time, I tried on the suit and it fits well and all the blood, sweat and tears and $$$ I've poured hand over fist into this has payed off. I am happy and I think its looks pretty darn close to the real ANH Stuntmen, so I am one happy camper!

OK...I am not really that big of a dolt.
I really did know that the movie in reference was ESB. [smilie=annoyedui7.gif]

...or Mary Poppins.
(he didn't say a movie from 30 years ago)

Seriously, I DID KNOW that it was ESB.

Very nice I think I could see my self in that armor.

Now all we need is a snowtrooper and a Boba Fett to go along with it.

Most definitly, it will finished this week! Getting new version 2 thermal det end caps, getting ab decal buttons, and belt covers...which is SWEET. I think if I get EIB, I will be the youngest ever. Thanks Marvinrobot and Gibbs, much appreciated for sure. Next post when I finish the suit with all the bells and whistles...

I'm reminded of something that the bc model builders would say when a nooblet asked that same question.

"Its Done When its Done..."

Hope that helps Reb

Heyo, the armor has been done for 2 weeks now...I just haven't had a photo shoot with it yet! Just got back from Oklahoma D-Day last Sunday...and to add to getting back to work my power has been out since Friday evening!

I am going insane, so I eventually got a generator and hooked it up to my computer (with help from me padre, happy father's day every one!)

As soon as power comes back I am going to put a ton of pics and follow up posting!

Thanks Dark Knight and 138! Much appreciated.

This post was a long time in the waiting for the cord to my buddies camera, but I decided to pay the Wauconda Library a little suprise visit! This was the Thursday after the blood donation troop so Riv gave me some of the nifty MWG cards...so I was also on a mission to deliver the card to the crew of the library...

Image I typed in "the Death Star Plans" into the library search engine, when it couldn't find it, I called a library assistent (which happened to be my friend) and said, "The Death Star Plans are not in the Main computer." I barely said it with a straight face...thank you helmet!

Little did I know my adventure would just simply amaze people everywhere! My walk there passed a large park district for many little tke soccer games...I didn't stop to greet them but however from across about 80 feet the games stopped cold and they all waved and cheered. The feeling was mutual under the bucket :D

Image

I patroled around town gathering essential items and making the good citizens happy. But Jewel awaited, I needed some tools to convince people to come to the dark side of costuming...so a baked good in the form of the Millenium Falcon made do.

Image Come to the darkside, we have cookies!

Image What do you mean my credits are no good here!?

After some were converted, I needed some water...and a bandana. Went to Subway (strip mall) and got free water. Cooled down and went to Mickie D's on a repeat mission. Had to improvise to stay in character...however mission accomplished!

I then trekked back home with my loyal buddy and amatuer photographer Mikey, but decided to parade up main street. Well the reaction was over the top. To about 30 middle aged people I explained the mission of the Legion and the charity we do, regardless to say there was a lot of interest in the Legion and I am to pass on a lot of thanks for what you guys do and what I am just starting. I eventually was called into multiple establishments for adoring citizens. Needless to say another objective complete.

Image Anyone want to give a trooper a lift? Hitch hiker trooper!

As the day was winding down and it going on 5 hours in the armor and about a mile and a half trekked I called it a day. I am just so PROUD of how my suit stood up to the test (secret training for BARTLETT!) and was actually not uncomfortable at all...disrgarding the obvious lack of points of articulation!

Whole album,

Updated pics to come very soon, with a post alll materials and cost, and all the people who got me to this point in what was a momentous challange for me...starting this at 16 and ending at 17 years old and ZERO experiance in armor making.

Well done, cadet!
Now we've got to complete that application process of yours!

(and paint those ab buttons first, of course!)

For sure?!
I have something to give to you and was about to send it out. If you're marching I'll just give it to you then.
and was actually not uncomfortable at all...disrgarding the obvious lack of points of articulation!
Then you better start wearing it more...

Nice job. Looks like you had a great time patrolling around in public. [smilie=cooljl8.gif]
