So today I got the resin parts for the body (from Keith, by the way I tried to sway him to trooping again...couldn't help it). I have to admit patience is not one of my greatest virtues and so I decided to prime and paint all at once...I know that is not advisable and I know better but I was giddy as a school girl when I got the parts. Needless to say I paid the price with some small paint runs (I'll turn those into weathering later) and I had to do the LDP twice since I handled it too soon and screwed it up.
One thing about Resin, you have to prime it good because of the small poures that occur. Second the X-Metal paint I used, not too hot on poorly primed resin since it is intended for metal. So here is my work today.
Getting Reeady:)
Primed
All the screw ups, bubbles, etc (not a big deal on 1 part since it's covered)
Wally gave me a call on his way home that most of his droid is STYRENE! Can you believe that and get this, LASER CUT PVC! He'll have it rotating and driving on three feet real soon. Darm is that somethin'!

Yeah, thats A&A body frame just like s5's and A&A skins. Those guys make awesome stuff. they even make a drink tray for r2, which I have considered.. but I have had too many other things on my plate. I have been working on moding my legs for this little upgrade made by Jerry Greene.
Though it will be like a another 5 years before my r2 is going to be ready to stand on its legs at the rate i am going. I just ordered the parts from Jerry. but I am excited.
Darryl.

I live in my own little world but it's OK, everyone knows me here.
gonna have lift-off capabilties?:) now that wold be a neat effect:)
But seriously though, can it remotely come out of the leg or is it stationary?

It will be remote controlled, well eventually. They do not actually work, granted.. but still a pretty cool mod. I am still adding a lot of crazy parts to my r2, which pretty much resembles a garbage can to date. hehehe, the last thing will be to put in place the controller to operate the gadgets along with the rest of the electronics. right now I am working on the physical structure and hope to have that done by the end of the year.. If I am lucky.

If you (or anyone else) are serious about making an R2 unit fly let me know.
I have all the rocket motors, electronic altimeters, and parachutes.
You would want it back in one piece of course!
Now would be a good time to consider this option before you finish the build.
I think you would be nuts to fly it. I can't imagine how much all that hardware costs. But what the heck, I can't resist offering. So cool.

Wow rockets very cool...I'll post some new photos of progress soon but needless to say I ran into a snag...I built a right handed rear door frame and when I finally got things lined up and cut out the door section on the back, it came out left hand...so I have to rebuild the door frame

Thanks I appreciate it...I actually did dump him the night before and had to make some cosmetic repairs. The funny thing was he fell over just like he did when the Jawas shot him...man was I freaked out.
