So every trooper needs a weapon and this trooper is on a budget so I made my own. This is not fully put togther. I took the photo to get an idea of where I was and what I did not like. I'm going to change a few things but I welcome any suggestions/comments. It's built more in the style of the CW show. (at least it's supposed to look that way)

Oh yeah...it's definitely a BFG. I think it weighs like 20lbs. Not a parade rifle. I'll actually weigh it when I'm finished. The barrel alone is 30 inches, and no I am not over compensating for something else...

So I worked some more on the CW DC-15 Rifle and here is the final build. It's long enough that I could actually use it as a crutch (I'm 5'10")All I have left to do is weather it and clear coat tomorrow night and I'll be ready for Saturday morning troop!!!
(I'm helping the 70th out with the same type event we are hosting down here on the 7th)

Hey Marvin, you don't have any tips or pics. as you did your Hasbro helmet, do you? Or did you use any specific tutorial to help you along the way? I couldn't resist picking a helmet up today. :P

Jodo,

First you need to take the bucket apart gut it of the electronics, the buttons, and the goggle portion. Keep the as much together as you can of the face and then use this template.
Image
I got it off the clonetroopers.net site. I guy somewhere overseas shared it. You do have to trim it down appropriately. I used a for sale sign. I cut/trimmed to my liking and then glue it onto the face plate.

Image

I then used mighty putty to build up the back so there wouldn't be such an obvious gap between the new portion and the lenses. I also used it on the cheek ridge under the eye to give it a better look.

Image
I put the helmet together again and bondod the seams, sanded it, primed it, painted it, weathered it.

See what a difference it make...it's simply stark. I myself will probably redo just that section.
