Scratch Building an Imperial Naval Trooper Helmet

Post by cplBear »

Okay....................Due to the fact that i don't want to spend OVER 600 dollars on a SDS INT helmet that "Might "not be made after April 2008 anyway......I've decided to try and Make my own . I've purchased a Real surplus WW2 MK2 navy talker helmet , and will see what i can do with it . Anyone have any magic Pixie Dust i can borrow ???? This could be fun !

The "Ears " , are made from a 2 piece wood base , then covered in plastic sintra. Then bolted thru to the inside of the helmet and shield.

btw..............DRILLING thru a REAL ww2 helmet was impossible . That thing was MADE to stop bullets ! I had to CUT my way thru it for any bolts !

Turned out pretty nice!! :D

A couple of quick question... where did you get the gloves and the pants for your costume? Are they the standard Imperial Jodhopurs?

I need to get pairs for myself! :D

Wow!

I know I'm late to this thread, but I didn't realize that is made from a real talker's helmet.

Hard core man.
How much does it weigh?

Is this possibly the only "real helmet" Naval Trooper, in the legion?

Yeah... I though you were going to use the talker as a vacuum forming buck to form the plastic.

Very impressive, and of course, requires patience to cut through that steel!
