Info needed on a StormTrooper helmet

Post by SHortTrooper »

I just purchased a Don Post Helmet on Ebay cirica 1988. I am supposing it is a Don Post as it has "Twentieth Century Fox" 1988 on the bottom back of the helmet inside of it.

Are those acceptable as a helmet for the Garrison? If it isn't no matter, I'll just keep it for my collection. If it can be used then I have a helmet for my self so far!

I also had a question.....where do you guys get StormTrooper shoes/boots??????????? I have little feet (Womens 6 1/2 wide) and I have been looking around already for foot wear. I also forgot what you guys said I need to wear underneath all this....There are NO scuba gear places here in my town any more so I may have to go Ebay again.

Thanks!!!!

The vinyl Don Post helmets are not 501st material as of the last time I checked. Based on the size and quality of the helmet, I doubt it will be changed any time soon.

Great piece to start a kids costume career with though.

Try here for a dive skin:

You can also spend a bit more and get a long sleeve shirt and a pair of tights/pants from Under Armor or one of their clones.

I recommend saving up for the Underarmor knock-offs. They're much more comfortable than the diveskin, and being in two pieces really helps. The diveskin can get itchy after a long period of time.

I have both and agree. The diveskin will cost you about as much as one of the UnderArmor pieces. But the Under Armor is much more comfortable and helps to control your body temps.

Thank you guys for the information!!!!! I'll just keep the helmet then for my collection and use it for display with my Vader Helmet.

Ok, now, where can I see the Under Armor and the "knock Off" Under armor?

I still need shoes too! I saw some hand made StormTrooper gloves on Ebay that I can use and they werent too badly priced.

Sorry to be a pest but I'm excited about doing this stuff

The Underarmor is usually sold just about anywhere with a sporting-goods section (Walmart, Dick's, Dunham's, K-mart). The knock-offs are cheaper (if you look hard enough, you can get both pieces for the same price as one piece of the Underarmor brand), but as mentioned, the UA brand can help regulate body temperature and moisture better than the no-names.

You'd need the skin-tight ones, not the loose shirt and pants.

Here are links to the official UnderArmor site and some pieces you can use.

The first two links are for the ColdGear. These are great for cold weather trooping. I used this during the Rose bowl march and was very comfortable.

Then there is the lighter duty Heat Gear that is made for the warm weather or indoor troops.

There are some accessories that can be helpful as well.

A skull cap to keep your hair from flying around in the helmet or keeping it out of your fans, a mesh top to keep you cool:

Gloves are a must, I have been using a generic mechanics glove from Home Depot or Menards for about 12 bucks. Just look for one that fits well and is all black. Most have a logo that you can black out with a marker

UA has this one:

I'm personally a fan of Dick's store brand of underarmor. It's about helf the price and is nicer than other brands knockoffs.

I have the Champions version and also the Walmart one, I always thought they were nice but since I got the ColdGear from underarmor I am really impressed.

The simple dive suit is ok for the hot summer days. But I'm still saving up for a set of HeatGear from UA.

Thanks guys for the information.

I did find some stuff at Wal-Mart and at the Target store here. I may have to wait till fall to get some of it and also see what sizes will fit me as I'm so short.

Now my only problem is finding shoes!

they do make capri lengths (typically in the summer) - I have a pair that i got at Dicks (capri length) ;) they are typically in the yoga/runners area of the women's stuff.

Thanks Jen.

Do you then wear the knee socks for the rest of the length of the covering for your leg?

I've found some shirts but not a lot in my size and they won't get the legging pants at Wal-Mart at all. I'll have to try and see if I can find them some where else. Those Under Armor shirts and leggings are expensive!!!!

I have short legs, so capri length pants are basically the perfect length for me. Perhaps that is what Jen had in mind. :)

Good Luck!

I'm not a trooper (i'm a mara jade) - so i dont know how that would work - but depending on your proportions (i'm much taller in the torso than in the legs) - the capri length can be LONG (mine go almost to my ankles) and can almost work depending on your boot height.. :)

My capri length are adidas and new balance :) (i got some at sports authority on sale, some at dicks, and others at a local sporting goods store)

There are a couple of sporting goods stores here in my town, I'll have to check them out.

If not here there is a mall 20 minutes from my town and I can go there. I think they have 3 sporting goods stores .

Ok I found 2 sports stores in my nearby mall and neither ONE of them carried the shirts or pants I need!

I'll have to check out eBay as I have seen the shirts on there or save my m oney and get the stuff on line.

What kind of shoes/boots do I need to get?? And where can I get them for my size???

I did buy the StormTrooper helmet off ebay that is the Don Post one, and it will be for my private collection and not for Trooping. My youngest wants to see it too, maybe I can get her involved!!!!

For boots, (off the top of my head) I'd say Caboots.

But, the smallest size trooper boots listed on their site is mens size 5
(which I guess is a womens 7)

Although, they are a custom boot manufacturer so I'm guessing they would be able to make them even smaller.

A note on CaBoots...

Always ask for their "factory defects" as they are less expensive and
the defects are virtually unnoticeable.
Also, CaBoots themselves sell on ebay. (Seller: bootstoo )
and they go for about 15 bucks less over there.

* Also, TB 101 has a pair of never worn, womens size trooper boots that she can let go of. (cheap)
But, they are womens size 8.

Bodysuits...
I've gone through 3-4 suits and finally found this place:

http://www.renaissancedancewear.com

Awesome stuff.

You can also order them with any mods that you can think of
Stirrups, zippers, neck seal (etc).

If you send an email, just ask about "Stormtrooper bodysuits".
She'll know what your talking about.

TSB826 ,
Thank you very much for the information!

I will check both of them out and see what I can find. I have seen a few pairs of shoes sold on Ebay as StormTrooper shoes. It may take me a while but I think I'll find something.

Hmmmmmmm, I wear a womens size 6 1/2 wide shoe. (I have short but wide feet.) I'll keep looking!

Thanks!
