IL-Chicago-Museum of Science & Industry Nov. 17th

Post by badmommy »

 Sweet Home, Chicago

Members of the 501st Legion were asked for their time to troop an ole familar place - the Museum of Science and Industry located in the southern part of Chicago, IL. MSI has been kind in working with the Legion in the past with the exhibits Game On! and Action! An Adventure in Movie Making. Returning to troop the Star Wars: Where Space Meets Imagination was a wonderfully, familar experience.

Troops began arriving at 9:00 with Arcturus and his lovely wife, Jessi, directing members to report to the Founders' Room. The group was dressed and on the floor shortly after 10:00 am.

Starting off in the Great Hall for an appearance, members greeted museum goers who parked in the underground garage. The excited cries of the kids (and adults!) echoed around the halls for nearly 2 hours straight.
Around noon, Vader and his entourage moved upstairs outside the Star Wars exhibit and the Millenium Falcon rooster experience. It was quite overwhelming the number of people wanting their picture taken. And with both the Millennium Falcon and exhibit selling out, taking one's picture with a MWG member seemed to pacify those who were disappointed not to have a ticket. The kids attending the museum that day seemed to prefer the Star Wars characters and tattoos more than the exhibit itself. :D

Seeing so many familar faces mixed with new members on familar turf gave the entire event a relaxed tone. I appreciate the number of members who made the troop especially Grunt who did it all with a broken toe! And you've seen the size of those Gamorrean toes, right?!
We had a lot of out-of-towners and a lot of families who chose to spend their free time that day trooping. Thank you - it was a great time!
