Post by lukez1128 »

Hey guys, I'm Luke (i costume as Luke Skywalker) from the Midwest Base and I have a question about how to make a certain part of a costume. I'm gonna try to attempt to make pilot suits from the show Gundam 00.

here are some pics:

i need help on how to make the greyish/brown armor part of the suit. what do you guys think is the best way to do it? even if you don't like anime, i still appreciate your opinion. :)

thanks,

Luke

good question....is that supposed to be like a hard plastic?

Will be the first to admit that I know less than zero about Anime....

I wonder if a latex cover over styrofoam would work?

At least the piece isn't real huge...

It depends on how much your willing to pay for it, if a hefty amount, then I suggest making a body cast of yourself, then mold the piece out of hard rubber. before it's cured, press it on the cast to form it around your body. Then you can buy Iron on backing at a craft store. put it on the back and Iron it permanently on. That's all I can think of.

EDIT: At first I thought you were going to go for an actual Mobile Suit.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Gundam Suit

I have to agree with Radioactive,

it depends on how much you want to pay. I've seen some anime costumers go in some sort of stretchy spandex material. But if you want to get that 'rubbery-hard suit' sort of look, might I suggest some sort of latex? I'd say paint it up, using matte paints not shiny. (unless you want to look very shiny, and then adding your little pieces of the suit. If you're going to do a helmet as well I'd love to see that as part of your peice.
