Hey i saw that car!

Duffy and i took it out for a spin J/K

Very cool though i will have to try and come up and help with the restoration. Would make a great winter project.
All right, look, there's only one "Return," okay, and it ain't "of the King," it's "of the Jedi!
Rule of life #7. Whatever the question, Costumes are always a good answer.

My wife and I were driving west on West Bartlett road today and the Blues Brothers car with the speaker on the roof went right past us. We both looked at each other and said "They must be on a mission from God!" I swear we hadn't been drinking!

"Both versions"
That pretty good.

I was thinking maybe Bluesmobile... and Chicago PD. (?)

The new one...

It is a 1974 with absolutly Zero rust.
(Not even a trace of surface rust)

It looks, drives, runs and even smells brand new.

I found it on the east coast of Maryland.

In the last weekend of Sept, me and (my completly awesome) wife, drove the 777 miles from Chicago, to Mechanicsville Maryland to pick it up.

I purchased it from an older gentleman who owned it for a total of 6 months.
He purchased it from it's original owner, an 85 year old Mennonite woman
(Mennonite's in that area of Maryland can be compared to the Amish, in the regard that they do a lot of horse and carriage driving)

She had it tucked in the back of her garage for three decades, wraped in blankets.

It's very first road test was a 777 mile trip, back home, the day after I bought it.
Smooth and quiet the whole way.

In fact it now has a grand total of 8,020 miles on it.

It is almost too nice to convert into a Bluesmobile.... but I don't think that will stop me.

Nope, not really.

Just recently, I finally gathered up enough cash to have it fully restored and converted.

Both the body shop, and the mechanic gave it the once over and I had dates arranged with both of them to start the work.

But, just as it was about to go under the knife, I found the new one.
( Only a few days before the work was to begin on the blue car)

So, all I really did was register it, drive it back and forth to the
(body & mechanic) shops. .. and store it for two years.

I thought hard about keeping both, but I think it may be too big of a hassle to maintain both vehicles.

So, I asked on the Blues Brothers website if anyone was interested in buying it.
To my suprise, I had to start beating off potential buyers, with a stick.

I must have gotten 20 emails, the first day.

So I now believe that the blue Monaco just may be headed to Mississippi, on a flat bed, within the next couple weeks.

Mike:

I found it in the "Southern Maryland Online Classifieds", while looking for parts to fix the blue one.

Wow! Now I know why you asked about the Registration! Great find! Now when you sell the Blue one it will pay for the mods of the new one!!

Actually the drive to pick it up was an hour and a half longer than the drive to DC.
(without the four days of fun in-between)

But.. I think it may have seen it's last long distance road trip, for a while.

With it having only 8,100 miles on it, adding a couple thousand more,
in a short amount of time, will cause the value to drop faster.

But we'll see.
