a step in the right direction with my batsuit

Post by hopeful recruit »

Well, tonight I came home from visiting family out of town and find a box about 18" long, 16" wide, and 6" thick..... I slit the tape and open it to find this little beauty:
Image

I couldn't help it and suited up in a quick way:
Image

I'm trying to decide between with or without the emblem:
Image
Image

And jsut for the drooling masses: :lol
Image

I'm going to go either full 89, full 92, or a hybrid... this will be the most likely route.... as I only have a 89 emblem on-hand...

I'm talking to a guy about a 89 cowl, so.... :D

I'm leaning toward 92, but the 89 still looks much more organic....

I'll probably end up with both eventually, so I guess it doesn't matter which one I do first, eh?

Just wanted to share what I got through the generousity of a BOTB... thanks, bro, you know who you are. ;)

YEah, I've seen those..... not accurate enough for the "batman returns" costume.... for some reaosn, every movie boot is really off-the-wall.

And the pair I'm wearing are goign to be my jedi boots.... they come to the bottom of my calf muscle.

compared to what a guy on the Brotherhood has, the rubies is junk:

Hope it's ok to borrow this pic from him...

Also want to show how my suit is now... no, you're not seeing double, we had two batmen out for this event... don't ask:

I have leg armor ready to be glued down as well as a new cape and cowl coming from a guy for just the cost of shipping.

After the legs, cape, and cowl, I need new boots, gloves, and a belt.

Oh Hell Yea ! But i bet that guy with the AWESOME Batsuit paid a lot more than 400 bucks for his suit !

You have seen the difference between the Rubies "Supreme Vader " suit and all of the BETTER 501st Vaders already . Same scenario . I'll bet that a Film Quality Bat costume would run you at LEAST a few grand ! 8)

It depends... the basuit he's wearing is made by a guy in ohio... I could've gotten the same thing (minus cape, cowl, gaunts, boots, belt) for under $200.

in fact, there's a 501st member here in the garrison that has the same suit, but different cape/cowl, boots, etc setup. I think he traded two old helmets and a few Green Lantern rings for it.

Myself, I want the full "Michael Katon" look for mine.

now... some can set you back a few thousand, but fi you know how to work with foamies, you can get the same look that the new suit has for under $100.... the cowl is what can get you in debt

the other bat lives up in Kenosha Wisconsin... I told him I was doing an appearance and he asked if they would have a problem with another bat... I checked and they were fine with it.. he showed up and we had a blast. :D
the armor is made by a guy who goes by the screen name of "ludakris" on BOTB and hte League of Heroes. the suit is awesome.

If you ever need a hand on putting a batsuit together, I'll be glad to help :D

in fact... I think you could pull off Ducard fairly well...

check out these boards and you'll find every resource you could dream of:

I'm goign to be doing an even in Rochelle illinois on august 23rd and 24th, so if you want, feel free to drop by. :)

I have the suit Tim was talking about. The maker told me it was a flawed pull ( if it was flawed I would eat a wookie  )

I am currently working on a Begins suit out of foamies, so if you want the templates let me know.

most liscensed cowls are made by rubies and are in the range of $20-$30.... most will fit a 23" head just fine, but steer clear of the "commerative Returns cowl" as it fits 22" and smaller.

My head is 23.5" and I wear a Rubies Clooney cowl and there's enough room to wear a sweat band under it. Erik has the new TDK/Begins cowl and his head is jsut a tad smaller than mine and it fits him great.

if you do get the TDK cowl, look in the BOTB archives for installing the plastic undermask to give it shape.

OR....................
This one ?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ADULT-BATMAN-RETURN ... 18Q2el1247

I'm not Tim but both of those are the Batman Returns commerative cowls...I bought one for mine and it will barely fit my son...Even after I opened up the back and installed a zipper....I recently bought a panther cowl from one of the guys on BotB...It is urethane and only cost me $120.I'd suggest staying away from the cheap latex cowls ....and just ask around on the Brotherhood....Just make sure you read the terms before you post anything talking about prices....Take a look at these pics...the last one is me wearing the same cowl you posted...Kinda gives me a bullfrog look....I guess I could just call myself batfrog...and my head is 23"

Tim is using a rubies cowl from Batman and Robin. Generally refered to as a "cloonie"(sp?)Due to the star who played batsy in that one. I use one as well for my batman and robin suit, I currently am using a rubies tdk cowl with a plastic undermask and padding to keep its form.
