Halloween at TK 30th MAW fundraiser Mission Report

Post by River »

Greetings Troopers!

I apologize for the delay in this official report. but here goes.

Late this past summer I had thought about a 'laid back' event for troopers to get together and have a chance to socialize and hang out. A fun time for us to get in touch with everyone else and just 'have fun' Well the idea of having a 'fun' troop at Tilted Kilt was born.

In speaking with the General Manager, he was taken with the fact that the 501st does so much for charity. so he decided to make it a charity event. Which turned out to be....Legendary!

about 20 of us showed and around 13 of us were in armor!

We all arrived on 10/30 at aroun 8pm. Suited up outside and entered the establishement. The first three in were myself, Whinter, and R2-S5 to make sure that it wasn't too crowded.

Once the place was secured the 'all clear' sign was given and all the troopers marched in. the final being Darth Vader gaurded by two sandtroopers!

We mingled and talked with several fans and patrons. The general managers were so thrilled to have us as well as the waitresses.

Needless to say many people got a kick out of seeing us there and when they realized why, they gladly donated.

At the end of the night, we raised $200.00 For Make A Wish, in only a little over an hour of trooping.

Many laughs were had as well as good memories.

I'd love to, but we'll see how things are,

I think it'll be a nice repreive after all the conventions going on in the summer.

I'll keep everyone posted if we plan on doing this again with TK.

Just out of curiosity, can this be used as part of the TOD?
The Legion Charter states in Article VI-Code of Conduct, 2nd paragraph, 2nd sentence:

Article VI - Code of Conduct

Foul language, obscene gestures, and use of alcohol or tobacco are prohibited while in costume in view of the public (children especially) as they jeopardize the club's image. Any convention or gathering where adult content is prevalent can be considered a private venue and a non-501st event and behavioral standards may be relaxed.

Hey Vick,

Just so you know, everyone was made fully aware that they couldn't drink or do anything crazy while 'in costume' at this event. so for nearly an hour we walked around and talked to patrons and raised money for MAW. Also there was nothing truely obscene going on, ask Kathy she was there with Tom.

After trooping, we all broke down outside and headed back in to enjoy some food and drink. I even cleared it with Aimee and we talked to the General Manager and everything was fine.

as far as this being considered a TOM, I don't think so, but you'll have to ask Aimee to be certain. I was asked by a number of troopers to write the MR. So I did it mainly for them.

As you can see, no one is holding anything in their hands while in costume, unless of course there are some black and white photos in a manila envelope of a trooper doing something bad!

I bet it would be Tom! or worse Pat! LOL

I have absolutely no problem with anything you guys did. I just noticed that it was listed in the TOD. I didn't know if it should be. That was my ONLY concern. Again:

Hey Vick,

it's all good, I just figured if you were concerned about the troop that others might be as well. Always good to let everyone know that the troopers present were definitly acting to the upmost standard of the legion.

not sure about Mike B though... [smilie=scratchheadzc6.gif]

Totally kidding Mike. anyhoo, going forward, If we do this again, the same rules apply in regards to being in and out of costume.

TK LOVED having us there so I want to continue the tradition this halloween (if it's possible). and hopefully have more troopers show up.

I appreciate the question and concerns, and I didn't think you had a problem, you were just wondering if the TOD counted. ;)

Exactly. The fact that all of you were able to have fun AND raise money is fantastic.
