Gary Railcats Star-Wars night,7/6/10

Post by dad vader »

On July 6th members of the Bloodfin and Midwest Garrisons converged on The U.S. Steelyard in Gary Indiana,Home of The Gary Southshore Railcats,For a night with Peter Mayhew.

The event was planned by the Bloodfin Garrison to be a fun night. We were allowed to set up a table to display some props, and explain to fans what the 501st legion was all about,We also took donations for Make-A-Wish.Mr.Mayhew was accompanied by his wife Angie and he was est up at a table with us to sign autographs,he also autographed a couple of hats and a Railcats jersey,to be auctioned off.

Before the game we took photos with fans and accompanied Peter down on the field and escorted him to throw out the fist pitch. After pregame cerimonies we returned to the concourse for more photos with fans, and got to participate in several between ining activitys, such as a dance off between the Dark side and the Railcats mascots,Rusty and Rascal,Which by crowd vote The Darkside won hands down. There was also a fun run in which several children were chased by Chewbacca(aRailcats employee dressed in a Rubies costume)Who was chased by Boba Fett. The total donations and raffle take were $158.00.That was forwarded to "Make-A-Wish"

After some more hyjinks we suited down and were asked to join Peter and Angie in the "Owners suite"

Myself ad Rudy had to leave shortly after we suited down, but several members stayed and hung out with the Mayhews until game end.

Rich...

One of the mechanics I work with gave me a newspaper with a photo of Peter Mayhew throwing out the first pitch with you in the background...

will save the paper for you...and hopefully remember to give it to you on the next outing we are both at...

Very cool. Peter Meyhew seems like a good guy.
