After being in the cold, rain and wind for our 2-hour Salvation Army Bell Ringing Station in Lake in the Hills, we were greeted with warmth and hot chocolate at our 2nd Salvation Army troop of the day… The S.A. Toy Drive!
We made our way from one troop to another and arrived at approximately 12:00 and stayed for about 2 1/2 hours. The parking lot of the Salvation Army Toyland Toy Shop was bustling with cars that carried all kinds of toys and clothes being dropped off for the children this holiday season. Among those in the parking lot was the Star 105.5 BIG Rolling Radio as they broadcast live throughout the entire event. Another addition was the Salvation Army Emergency Response Vehicle, where they handed out delicious chili and hot chocolate to everyone.
During our visit, the S.A. Toy Truck was filled many times over with all kinds of toys, hats and gloves, bicycles, clothing, etc. We took photos with many of the people that came in and donated, danced to the Christmas jingles that the radio station played, and Lord Vader even did a short interview with the DJ’s.

Oh, and we also tried out a couple of the bicycles that were donated, just to make sure that they were safe for the children.

Thank you again to everyone that came out for this. We must do this again next year!! I know the folks at the Salvation Army were so grateful to have us this Friday and Saturday.
