IL - Champaign, Free Comic Book Day - May 5th, 2012

Troops,

This was our 9th year at FCBD in Chamapign! I can hardly believe that I've done this event nine times.

Once again, another successful event for the MWG and the 501st. We got suited up and trooped inside and outside of G-Mart Comics. We posed for many pictures and waved as cars went by. We also met up with a couple of new recruits. Thomas Bickel brought his in-progress animated ARC armor to show us. He wanted our opinion on how he was doing so far. It looked good to us, I can't wait to see it done. Also, James from Champaign came by. He just ordered AM armor and wanted to take a look at my AP stormtrooper helmet. After that we took our annual trip down to Dallas & Co, the local costume, party and magic shop. Our new Grand Moff Tarkin, Eric, works there. Wes, the manager, is always glad to see us.

On the way back to G-Mart we stopped by Memphis on Main. There was a bingo fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis happening right then. The coordinator of the event asked us to come in. She's a huge Star Wars fan. We took some pictures with some of the bingo players and then went back to G-Mart. This was the second year for the fundraiser and it's organized by some of the Carle hospital nurses. There were a lot of kids present and I told her about our work with different kids' charities. When she found out that we had a Relay For Life team, she said that she would make a donation. Hopefully we can work with this group again.

Check out our newest recruit, Eric, as Grand Moff Tarkin! He was getting compliments about his costume and it's only his first troop. He'll be submitting pics for membership soon.
