IL -Orland Park 60462 - 7 Year Old's Birthday Party 7/27/14

Post by darthikari »

The Garrison had received a request for some troopers to attend a birthday party event for twin boys celebrating their 7th birthday. Commander Cody answered the call to investigate the Jedi assembly at the Crystal Tree Golf Club. The parents went all out for the event, turning it into a chance for their friends and neighbors to get acquainted. There were over fifty kids and parents in attendance, and food, drink, and themed party favors were there for the guests. I was welcomed with open arms, and got to "talk shop" with a few if the parents while we were waiting for the time to suit up. A team from Lego did a demonstration with mindstorms kits with the kids until the time for my deployment came. I was provided with the "bridal salon" - the nicest changing room I've ever seen, and then made my entrance.

There was a few tense moments, as I found myself vastly outnumbered by foam-sabered Padawans, but once we found we were all on the same side, things settled down and we got to photo ops and questions and answers. Even several of the parents jumped in for photos too.

I was in attendance for about three hours, but only a little over an hour in armor.

To make the event even more special, the parents graciously donated $200 to Make a Wish in exchange for my appearance!

I didn't get pics myself, but I'm seeing if the parents can send me a few later.

Well done sir. Solo birthday parties can be a bit intimidating. Sounds like everyone had a great time.
