Re: Ready to order my armor...

Put in my order for the boots from TKboots. There's a 12-week waiting period!! But I've been told it's worth it and it'll take at least that long to finish up my armor. Ordered the under suit. Went with Russell athletic baselayer from Amazon. Top and bottom should be in today, so I'll see how well i...

Re: new person from charleston IL

Welcome from another newbie.

Good luck on your TK build. That's what I'm going to build, as well. I just ordered TM armor.

Would you be coming up here to do some trooping with us?

Re: Hi from Naperville!

Hi Kim. You are absolutely right! I am already a member of the ACD board and have been researching a TA suit, too. I think it would be quite fitting since I'm a real cold-weather lover and I used to be in the Armored Cavalry as an M1-A1 driver/loader back in my days in the Army. :D Ideally I'd have ...

All went very well selling some of my mountaineering gear. I placed my order for TM armor this afternoon!

Now the waiting game begins. :D

Re: Ready to order my armor...

I met up with gazmosis today; dude really is a treasure-trove of knowledge! After much discussion I decided to go with troopermaster armor. I PMed the owner and placed my order this afternoon! I'm going with the ANH Stunt helmet, too.

Now to start ordering the other elements.

I can hardly wait!

Re: Ready to order my armor...

Thanks, SL.

I am happy to report that I've broken the threshold for the armor order!

But before I do I want to get together with gazmosis. He lives near me and has offered to give me some pointers before I get started.

I hear he makes a really nice holster.

Re: "other" requirements for full costume

Thanks for posting about this. I've been reading the threads on FISD and it looks like the DoopyDoo kits are pretty popular. Once gazmosis has more time I'm going to hit him up for advice on where to start. I'm going for the ESB version of the E-11.

So after 2 days I'm halfway to the funds I need. :D

Re: Hi from Naperville!

I felt like a goofy kid asking to get my picture taken with you guys. LOL I can't wait to do appearances like the one at Cantigny. How often do people from this garrison get together? Yeah, there are a number of troopers here in Naperville. One of the FISD officers is just up the road from me; gazmo...

Ready to order my armor...

So I spent a lot of time the past week reading as much as I could about the various uniforms that interest me (TIE pilot, AT-AT driver, TK) I've decided my first build will definitely be TK armor. I'm aiming for the ESB version and I have a goal of obtaining EIB certification. I emailed ATA and AP a...

Re: Hi from Naperville!

Hi Woulf and Sakic. Thanks for the advice. After reading your posts I actually went and signed up for the Jolly Roger and Armored Cav detachments. I looked around and I REALLY want to build a TIE and AT-AT driver suit... eventually. I keep coming back to the TK armor. It is just so SW and iconic. I ...

Re: Think we are going with Authentic Props!

Hello and welcome! You're in Naperville? I'm right around there too! Let me know if you need any supplies (I've got some extra clips, snaps, and fabric) Cool, where about are you? Thanks! I'll likely take you up on that offer, or at least to get some advice on modifying the armor for Legion ...

Re: Think we are going with Authentic Props!

So, I just joined up and am doing a lot of reading, trying to decipher this new language. lol May I ask why you decided to go with the AP armor? Also, what options did you choose and what was the final cost? Like you and your hubby probably did, I'm trying to weigh my options for time, cost, work in...

Re: Hi from Naperville!

Hi Paul. Everyone actually calls me "Chills." It stuck with me when I was a kid. Thanks for the advice. I checked out FISD and there's SO much on that page. A bit overwhelming for a beginner, but I'm starting to sift through it all. Do you solely have the Fett costume? I found the card for the TIE P...

Hi from Naperville!

Hey MWG, my name is Chris Hills and I'm excited to have found this group. I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan and have been wanting to join the 501st for a number of years, now. This last weekend my wife, daughter, and I went to the LEGO exhibit at Cantigny and I met a few of the 501st MWG members. The TIE pil...
