Wow! That looks spectacular! If you're still debating weathering, I say do it. I think props always looks best when they seem used.

Re: Getting Started At Long Last!

We've got all the pieces for the tunic cut out! We're going to surge the edges this week because the fabric I got just loves to fray. Exciting exciting!

Re: Getting Started At Long Last!

Wizard World's a little soon. With my schedule, I'm setting aside one afternoon a week to work on it, and I think it's going to take more than two afternoons to finish up.

Re: Getting Started At Long Last!

Jodphurs are done! And we've got a mockup of the tunic! It needs to be modified slightly to account for the taper on the yoke. Sorry for the shoddy pictures. My cell phone is the only camera I have atm, and it's pretty terrible. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-5uVJH3EvtH8/UA8NmNuqDyI/AAAAAAAAAkU/...

Re: Getting Started At Long Last!

Code cylinders are done! I'll post pics soon. Belt is 90% done. I'm waiting to punch the hole and use the dye finish/seal/whatever its called until I have the jacket done so I can make sure it fits just right. But the buckle is done and the belt is nice and black. We've decided to scrap the jodhpurs...

Re: Getting Started At Long Last!

Belt buckle is constructed! I hade to bust out the power sander to remove the imperfections on the blanks. The belt itself is on its third coat of dye, and we'll see if that's enough to give it a deep black rather than dark grey color. Code cylinders are 90% done! I just need to get some #6 finishin...

Re: Getting Started At Long Last!

Belt supplies arrived today! So I'll be having adventures in dying leather on Tuesday (my day off). My goal is to be done by the end of March. It's a little ambitious considering my schedule this month, but I figure aiming high is never a bad thing. Speaking of, I have a friend that's going to be cu...

Getting Started At Long Last!

Construction on my Imperial Officer costume has begun! I've bought way more fabric than I'm sure I'll need and accessory supplies are on their way! I'm working on the jodhpurs right now with my aunt and sister (both of whom are far more talented at sewing than I am). Why is it requiring three people...

Re: Hello from Chicago!

Patterns have been purchased! As soon as I find some free time, I'm going to get started on my Imperial Officer.

In the mean time, I've hired my sister to work on Luke's ROTJ costume. She just started cutting out pattern pieces today.

Re: Join the empire

Hello! I'm planning on joining as an Imperial officer too. These guys are all really helpful and awesome. I've met a few of them in person, and they were really cool about my pestering questions, so I'm sure they'll be even more helpful here on the boards. And the detachment forum really is a fantas...

Re: Steampunk

If you live in Chicagoland, there's this great costume store called Lost Eras. It's right off the Howard CTA stop (1511 W. Howard St) They just have a ton of costume stuff from every genre and theme. Quality ranges from really cheap-o off the rack to very high quality, and I know they rent costumes ...

Costumes of the Past

While I'm working on a costume for the 501st, I thought I'd share some of the costuming I've done in the past. Re: Hello from Chicago!

Thanks for the welcomes! I've officially started a "this much of each paycheck is going towards my costume" budget. I've got folders upon folders of bookmarks I've collected over the years pertaining to Imperial Officer dress, and it's time to dust them off and get cracking! I'm seriously considerin...

Hello from Chicago!

Hello! I’ve been a long time stalker of the 501st ever since I ran into some of you guys at the Field Museum’s Star Wars Day way back in 2000 when they had the Smithsonian Exhibit. I still have the pictures my mom took of me and my friend with a few Stormtroopers and Boba Fett. Then I was 12 years o...
