Re: Installing fans in helmet
I realize it will never be silent, but right now it makes a lot of noise being right on the ABS.
"Who is this? Whats your operating number?"

Re: Installing fans in helmet
You don't want it right against the ABS anyway ... you need to leave a bit of room for air to flow behind it.

You can either put small pieces of foam between the fan and the ABS (along a couple of edges), or maybe use PC board spacers. Glue them to the ABS, then use screws to secure the fans to the spacers.

Thanks,

ATM

Re: Installing fans in helmet
That sounds like a plan. Might try that
Thanks!
"Who is this? Whats your operating number?"

Re: Installing fans in helmet
I'd try the foam first. It'll cut down the vibration to the helmet and provide the necissary distance for proper air flow. Just like you do with your mic's and speakers.

<img src=http://www.pml.atfreeweb.com/Graphics/b ... /a>
"The avalanche has already begun. Re: Installing fans in helmet
You must have a huge helmet to fit all them people in your helmet with out them making any noise. Good luck on that one.

Arturo
TK412

TK118

this is what I did,

I got a mini cpu from Radio Shack. the real thin looking one.

in the corners there are 4 holes to screw it to something.

I put in those hole, 4 nails and a dab of hot glue to hole them in place like
stilts.

I put some 3M foam tape underneath the nail stilts. its stuck right to the
helmet. but in keeps the nails from vibrating on the abs.
then just hot glued the whole thing with extra foam wrapped around the outside
perimeter of the 4 nails...

make sense?

i get very minimal noise, but regardless, you'll still have a slight hum if you have
a mic hooked up.. but it minimizes it a lot this way.
JoeTK171Commander
Central Garrison 501st

<img src=http://thematrix.acmecity.com/realworld ...
