The garrison was asked to participate in Holy Angels School family reading night. The teachers invite families in to the school and provide games, activities, and book readings. They try to get a few characters from the books to be present and interact with the families and pose for pictures. Our contact Kathy had heard of the 501st from a colleague in California would has used members in events for their school. She thought adding some Star Wars characters would appeal to the older children.
After meeting the contact, and shown the changing room, I suited up to provide that Star Wars appeal. I headed to the gym for the photo station and met my co-worker for the night, George. He was quite the Curious one
We posed for pictures with the students and families. Sometimes together, other times they would ask for one of us specifically. It was a great time discussing poses with the children and hamming it up for the camera. The school had a donation jar and was requesting that people donate for the pictures, and they printed them out there to hand out. once the event was a wrap, I headed back to the lounge, suited down, and headed home.
The contact has said all money raised from the photos will go to Make a Wish
Attendee:
Steve, TK-7345
Hours trooped: 1 X 2 hours, 2 hours total.
Once I get a total on the funds raised, I will post it.
TK-7345 reporting for duty
My partner for the evening and I got to monkey around a bit before the lines formed for pictures

I wanted to share the really nice note I got from the point of contact at the school, great job, Steve!!
Hi, Adriane ~
Thank you so much for sending Steve to our activity. He is great with kids and was a wonderful addition to our family reading night! We were able to collect some money [for make a wish] from the pictures taken.
...
My husband was taking the pictures and said over and over how well Steve worked with the children ~ he knew which ones were comfortable with him and which ones were a bit unsure. Since we were dealing with kids from preschool to middle school that was a big help!
Thanks again
