Hello all from Mundelein. I'm looking to have few outfits starting with the storm trooper and imperial officer. I love the outreach that the legion does for all the nonprofit groups out there and want to be part of it.

Welcome Chris! With your desire to start with a Stormtrooper and Officer costumes, make sure to also register at the detachment forums for those two.

Stormtroopers are under the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment (FISD) and their website is www.whitearmor.net .

Officers fall under the Imperial Officer Corps (IOC), and their website is www.imperialofficer.com .

You will find tons of information about the building of those costumes st those websites. But don't hesitate to ask any questions you may come up with here, as well. :)

From what I could find anvos was the cheapest way to find stormtrooper armor. Does anyone know any other person around here that is around the same price that could make it also?

Hopefully, it will just be sleeve and leg length issues, which you can still wear (because both will be tucked into boots and gloves). So at least you can get you approval pictures taken, then look for a decent tailor/seamstress for the alterations.
