I have some VERY VERY VERY high res scans (1200 dpi) I can send Email me at tk118@tk118.com

CLICK HERE to see the scan of the noice box board

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub118.ezboard.com/bmidwestgarri ... 8>TK118 at: 3/4/03 5:29:31 pm

Did anyone get any of the scans? And if so would you be willing to forward them to me? I would be willing to work up some board layouts, maybe gerber files if possible from the scans... Also is anyone willing to "lend" a unit to me so I can take a look at reverse engineering it if the scans don't reveal some things like hidden traces or firmware on a chip ect... The real unit would make verifying any connections much easier...

I would be willing to put up a deposit for the unit so it wouldn't be just a good faith "lend"

No promises as there is the possibility that the chips if any have locked firmware or are not easy to obtain or identify...

flynn@cfwebdesign.com

Ok I have the top of the board scan and unfortunately as far as getting a working unit from these scans, with the device being a high and tightly populated board many of the trace areas are obstructed by components... Also the value of many of the components is not clear...

The good news is that if the 4 grouped ICs on the board are all in fact HCF4066BE (can't clearly see from the scans) then the whole firmware dump of any chips is nil... And from the look of it all the parts on the board are readily available, although just a quick guess of cost in small quantities will put the component total in the area of around $30 delivered the PCB is another $ issue... This device is definitely not beyond cloning and a home hobbyist handy with a solder iron should be able to build it from kit form...

Now I have to ask again is anyone willing to donate/lend one to the cause? I MIGHT have to pull a chip or two off to verify traces under it but I promise to reassemble the unit and return it in the same working order it was sent to me... To anyone that donates a unit, I will assemble and send it back with a cloned unit, the PCB on the cloned unit will be one I etch so it won't be as clean looking as factory but if all goes well it should function as well as the original.

On a last note the PCB board layout drawings will be given back to the community, as well as a parts list...

flynn@cfwebdesign.com

The only part I understood about this was the 'static box' part. My head hurts after reading those recent posts, and Tom, yours made the most sense. Must lie down now.........
