Summary write up:

The 501st had been invited to work/appear at the first annual Video Game Awards on Spike TV (a subsidiary of MTV). Spike TV contacted Lucasfilm about the possibility of LFL supplying Stormtroopers for the event. LFL then contacted the 501st and asked if we could provide character support for the event. The rest as they say "is history".

What a wild time. Toby and I arrived in Vegas, and explored the sites. We did some site seeing, gambling, drinking... well ok I did the drinking. There were 40 plus trropers from accross the US that came to participate. Even though our "screen time" was minimal at best, we had a great time. We had our pictures taken with a number of celebs to include, David Spade, Pam Anderson, Tia Carrere, Chris Pontius, Steve-O, Andrew W.K., Dancia Patrick, Funkmaster Flex, DMX, Kelis, Orlando Jones, Ray Liotta, Ray Mysterio, Tony Hawk, the band P.O.D. and many more.

The first annual Spike TV "Video Game Awards" (VGAs) premieres with a two-hour fete on Thursday, December 4 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT). Hosted by actor/comedian David Spade celebrates the many accomplishments of the past year in video "gamedom" while also looking to the future of games in 2004 and beyond. Awards in 16 wide-ranging categories were presented during Spike's "VGAs" which was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The categories for Spike TV's first annual "Video Game Awards" were (in random order): Game of Year; Best Sports Game; Best Action Game; Best Animation; Best Driving Game; Best Game Based on a Movie; Best Music; Best Performance by a Human; Most Anticipated; Most Addictive; Best PC Game; Best Online Game; Best Handheld Game; Best Fighting Game; Best First-Person Game and Best Fantasy Game.

They wanted us there for the Star Wars Knight of the Old Republic Game that won for "Best Fantasy Game."
