Summary write up:
Duffy - "It was cool as hell! Charlie is insane. And he sweats a lot. But he was very cool. So were...like...everybody else. The patrons got a kick out of us, too. Collating some flyers (pamphlets) and spending 3 minutes picking up cups is well worth the free $18 admission."
Press Release
ONE MAN STAR WARS

Batavia, IL - The 501st Legion, Midwest Garrison of Imperial Stormtrooperswill be appearing at the sold out 8pm showing of "One Man Star Wars" with writer and star, Charles Ross at the First Street Playhouse in Batavia on January 2nd.

"One Man Star Wars" is the creation of Charles Ross, self proclaimed Star Wars Geek. Ross grew up in Canada and spent a great deal of his childhood soaking up the three original installments of the Star Wars Trilogy, and has
made art out of this obsession. This hilarious take-off centers on awarp-speed adventure into "The Empire Strikes Back," "The Return of the Jedi" and the original "A New Hope. Developed by Ross, after watching the films 473 times, the actor uses only his black clad body, expressive face and pliable vocal chords to create sound effects, generate the musical scrod, and reenact the key scenes with dead-on dialog. He disregards much of the exposition and gets right to the meaty moments from the films. He impersonates Luke Skywalker, Jabba the Hutt, Admiral Ackbar, Princess Leia,
Obi-Wan Kenobi, Chewbacca and Han Solo to name a few.
Midwest Garrison stormtrooper members who will be appearing at the 8pm performance include: Bob Merritt (Wisconsin), Mark Zoran (Shorewood), Rob Johnson (Oswego), Tom Schaeffer (Hanover Park), John Duffy (Crystal Lake),
Kathy van Beuningen (Chicago); Darth Vader: Jim Tampa (Aurora); TIE Pilot: Jessi Tampa (Aurora). There will be photo opportunities prior to and after the show.
Review by Kathy
All of the reviews I read prior to viewing the show are true!
This is definitely worth seeing no matter how big of a Star Wars fan you are. Mr. Ross has distilled the essence of what makes the original trilogy such a classic story.

Not only does Mr. Ross act out the entire OT in one hour (20 minutes per movie), he does in fact play all of the characters, say all of the lines AND incorporate all of the special effects!
With a movement, inflection, gesture or mannerism, you will know exactly which character he is playing at any time.
Luke, Leia, Darth Vader, Uncle Owen, Aunt Beru, Obi Wan, Han, Chewie, C3PO, R2D2, Jawas, Tusken Raiders, Rebel troopers, Stormtroopers, Tarkin, Motti, other Imperial Officers, the Emperor, the entire cast of Rebel Pilots, Mon Mothma and the Rebel leaders, Lando, Nien Numb, Lobot, Boba Fett, Yoda, Jabba the Hutt, Bib Fortuna, Admiral Akkbar, Boussh, Tauntauns, Wampas, Dianogas, Rancors, Ewoks, AND MORE----they are all there! Plus--he most-convincingly reenacts all of the action sequences, saber duels, battle scenes and special effects. He even blows up the Death Star----TWICE!

Mr. Ross pays tribute to the original theatrical release version of the trilogy and doesn't employ any devices from the most recent special edition version.

Mr. Ross performs all three Star Wars movies in one hour. The action is non-stop. The laughter is non-stop. Nearly all of the dialog is straight from the movies with only an occasional humorous extra line thrown in.

I laughed so hard, my armor hurt!

-----

This was all topped off by dinners at Charlie Fox's in Batavia with the last night Charlie attending. What an awesome time! I can only hope he comes back soon!
