IL-Champaign-Salvation Army Bell Ringing-December 2005

Postby SL9965 » Sat Jan 28, 2006 12:18 am

Troops,

Finally, I get a picture from this event! I swear I'm going to buy a decent camera and take it with me to every event from now on.

Anyway, Ryan Summers and I volunteered to be bell ringers for the Salvation Army in early December last year. We rang the bell for three hours at the new Champaign Walmart. After about the first hour we moved into the entryway because of the cold. Even with heat packs, that we bought, it was still cold. Walmart gave us some trouble about our helmets, but they let us wear them in the entryway.

I couldn't find Santa hats that were big enough, so I bought three and made two large hats instead. This was the first time I had sewn anything with a sewing machine and they worked out pretty good.

We raised about $200.00 and we had a really good time. I'm sure we'll do it again next year.
