He is a patient at Children's Memorial Hospital
(the LFL/EPIII CP benefactor) who referred us for this request. He was
diagnosed with cancer (Neuroblastoma) last year, and treated. He had been in
remission for some time, however, recently the cancer has returned.
Currently he is undergoing Chemo treatment at CMH. The little boy would be
turning 4 years old in a couple weeks and would enjoy a visit from Star Wars
characters. On Saturday May 28th, several members of the Midwest Garrison
made his dreams come true.

This was a great time for everyone involved.
The little boy, Duke, had the look of total disbelief as Darth Vader, 4 stormtroopers and a TIE pilot made their way to the park for his birthday party, and came right up to him & handed him a gift! He was in Star Wars heaven What a sweet little boy.
There were about 30 + children there. It didn't take long for everyone to warm up to us and start chasing us around the park.
The parents and grandparents and everyone else were very glad that we were able to attend.

Quote:
Dear Kathy and all who attended Duke's birthday,

How can we ever thank you enough for making Duke's birthday so
wonderful? We were blown away by your group - your dedication and compassion - and
your professionalism. It was a true pleasure getting to know you all. What a
great group of people you are - and you brought the biggest smile to our
son's face - that has lasted for 5 days! He is still in heaven and all
his friends are still talking about the party. The parents are too! We want
to know if there is a place where we can send a letter of recognition for
you all - as you deserve to be recognized for your volunteer work. We are
also sending a donation in the amount of $1000.00 to the Neuroblastoma
Research Foundation in the legion's name.

We hope to get the opportunity to see you all again.
